To point out the most simplest of facts... The BATF is a tax collection branch of the IRS. The current version, in the words of The Beekeeper, "a tax collection agency gone mad", is responsible only to collect tax. It is not responsible to enforce law. What sort of agency California creates is first California's business, but the rest of the nation will be watching, because to quote Grimshaw from the supper table, as he looks out at his children.... "The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.."

I thought BATF was to control alchohol, tobacco and firearms?? if not who enforces these laws?

Because to statists, "a good idea is a good idea!" and you can never have too many government thugs to threaten the people and keep them in line.

ATF does have special agents who make arrests, for example they investigate felons who illegally possess firearms. They also do things like pester/harass FFL holders who do not have formal gunshops into giving up their license. There are only so many ATF agents, tho, and state law enforcement works with them in survellience and arrests some times,I think. However the ATF would not investigate an alleged infraction of one of the PRKs state gun control laws. With the frequency that new gun control laws are being passed in Kali I would not be surprised to see a separate agency or a new division within their state police to make sure that no one is selling any handguns that don't pass their "safety test." Remember this is the same state that outlawed kangaroo leather shoes. (Save Skippy!) |
