A Post I made on Facebook.The first 4 reply's are Americans and the last 2 are Australians. I was once an Australian and am now an American. I took an oath when I became a citizen to defend the constitution of the USA and I intend to keep it.

The Liberal Media is in total control of all news reports about the USA. There is no Fox  News or counter liberal media in Australia to tell them the truth.

The Governor of New York is a tyrant in the making. He keeps framing the gun control debate as though the 2nd amendment was about hunting. It isn't, its about the people defending themselves, against criminals and the government if it becomes tyrannical and forces the rules of a few down the throats of the many. Which is exactly what he is doing with his secret meetings and late night votes. He keeps asking why a hunter needs a 10 round or higher magazine when It is already illegal to hunt with anything larger than a 5 round magazine in New York State which as a lawyer he would know. His comments are meant to be inflammatory to the uneducated public and those who think with their emotions and not their brains. He keeps talking about the slaughter of innocent children and blaming responsible gun owners while not keeping murderers and insane people in institutions but continually releasing them back to the streets. Whether we have a 10, 20, 30, or 100, round magazines should not be about proving need but about being a free people who can decide how many bullets they want in their magazine. Tyranny is when someone arbitrarily tells you what you can do. Freedom is being allowed to make up your own mind. The Governor hopes to become president because he believes he should rule this nation and drive this country in the direction he wants it to go. It makes me sick when I think about where people like him want this nation to go. We need to vote him and people like him out of office at any and every opportunity. Even with all these laws he is inflicting on decent New Yorkers it will not stop a person from getting a hold of whatever weapon they want from some Mexican drug gang that crosses our borders with impunity and the blessing of our President and his Attorney General. These laws will just stop New Yorkers from defending themselves effectively and enjoying their freedom. R.I.P. The 2nd Amendment and any other part of The Constitution that The Governor doesn't agree with.

Brett:   A crazy with an automatic weapon kills lots of people, these weapons need to be banned. All hand guns need to be banned also. I don't have a problem with hunting weapons (shot guns , bolt action rifles) as long as the     owner has been checked out and is not a crazy. The 2nd amendment is past its used by date by a 100 years. Countries with similar cultures i.e. UK and Australia don't have a high number of gun deaths. Has any one in the USA ever wondered why?

Chris: You are joking aren't you Les, or are you as insane as the NRA . Your "constitution "was written nearly 250 years to enable armed militia with single shot muskets to defend your country. Now all it does is enable armed nutcases to kill innocent civilians. For a supposed "super power" you have no confidence in the defense of your country by your military. I cant believe you are prattling this pro gun crap.I have been a hunter my whole life , owned firearms since I was 16. Defended this country since I was 17, THERE IS "NO" NEED TO ARM CIVILIANS WITH ASSAULT RIFLES AND HEAVY MACHINE GUNS. All you do is confirm what the rest of the world thinks of America and that is money and politics is more important than human lives and especially the lives of your children. Every child has the right to grow up unafraid of going to school or the shops or the movies ,wake up to yourself .Tyranny is also were normal people live in constant fear of radicals.

Well You could type out a well thought out, rational response backed by facts and logic.  But if I were you, I would tell them to shut the hell up, and stay out of United States business.

Ask them, why in a country highly regulated (lots of gun control) with a lower population than the US, they have a higher rate of violent crime?

That or defriend.  Since they arent from the US, its not like you need to change their minds any, they already lost their fucking rights...

Those blokes don't seem to realize that law abiding citizens use guns (by some estimates) around 2.5 million times per year to stop crimes.  

England has a lower murder rate, but a MUCH higher violent crime rate.  Why?  Citizens don't have guns with which to defend themselves.   Further, about 70% of victims of shootings in the US have criminal records, with an average of 11 arrests among them.  Our problem isn't with law abiding people flipping out all of a sudden, it's with thugs and criminals killing each other in highly populated urban areas.

I did write a really long well thought out and polite reply. I then decided that it was pointless wasting my time replying to idiots who apparently believe everything they see on TV and on the news.

Funny thing is that my friends who visit from Australia all want to go out to the range and shoot my guns. They all leave wishing they had my freedom to own guns. Best way to win someone over is take them shooting I say.

My sister fled to Australia to escape perosnal debts and relationship isses, then spent the next ten years morphing into a liberal know-it-all. Australia is the land of milk and honey. Oh well, at least it means she'll stay there.

Yeah, I lived in Perth for 6 months.

I had a Brit couple on my boat for sun downers in the Bahamas last winter and the wife was so horrified of the BB GUN on the wall that she wouldn't even sit on that side of the boat.  I tried to explain that a Red Ryder wasn't a weapon but a kids toy and she wouldn't even let me finis the seentence.  Oh I don't want to know!  Now come dear, it's time we were going!  I lold for half an hour cause she was sitting on top of a compartment with a .45, a .380, half a crate of ammo, and about 20 pounds of 1" flares for the h&k launcher.
