Been there, done that.
Not much more exciting than a 3 second road flare. No risk of explosion. (assuming you punch a hole in the foil first, and ignite the composition) |

Also, be aware that the smoke can be toxic.
Red compositions have strontium. Green compositions have barium. (barium is a heavy metal) |

You'll get a small snap sound and a short flare. Have it clamped into a vise or it'll jump around on ya. Not that I've done this or anything.....
