I have read through volumes 1-6 and will eventually have all 12. It is a great way to see how things used to be done before electricity. My girls even like to look through them.

Thanks for the link.  I've been meaning to get the complete set for some time.

My Dad has most of the series, not sure if he has all 12 or not. I remember flipping through them as a kid. I don't remember if it was in one volume or two, but the sections I like reading the most were about faith healers and bootleggers.  Some of the natural remedy parts are interesting, too.

At my highschool in Iowa (late 90's) they had the set tucked away in the back corner and I remember the librarian commenting that I was the first one to check the books out in 15 or so years.

I have been slowly buying the books when I see them as they hold great knowledge

My hippie step dad had the whole set. I used to read through them a lot. I need to order the set.

I have the first six volumes and hope to get the rest soon.  Vol. 1 has some good topics, such as:

how to make moonshine
how to slaughter a hog
how to cure and smoke a hog
how to build a log cabin
how to build a chimney
quilt  making
soap making
how to preserve fruit and vegetables
how to make a chair

etc.

Great information.

Yep.  They were in my house when I was growing up.
