Peltor Tac 6s, pretty inexpensive and very high quality (in my opinion) and are sold by a dealer on the EE for $69 I believe

Triburst1-- do you use some sort of fancy in ear protection or just good ole foam?
Doc_Holiday-- sharp and dry. I like that. Thanks Guys Les Also does anybody have any opinion about the type that the wire is behind your neck not on top of your head? In AZ a hat is a must. Almost 24/7

I use muffs for pistol shooting and foam plugs for shoulder fired weapons. I would like to get a set of molded electronic plugs, but they are pretty expensive.

I bought myself a pair of Caldwell's from Midway about a year ago, and the hubby liked them so much I got him a pair for Christmas. Inexpensive, comfortable, and they work really well.

Sordin Supremes, if you want the best. I still have trouble shooting a rifle with muffs though. Tactical Command Industries is the best source.

I have the Tac 7, two pairs. I did not like the compact ones, the 6 I think. My ears would always ring after shooting with them. The 7 is awesome.
I would be interested to know if the Comtac is any better at picking up sound, sound clarity, or if they attenuate better. From someone who has tried both. I can't imagine anything working better than the 7. |

Been using Peltor 6's for close to 10 years or so...a long time anyway. Gotta keep an eye on the contacts since they get exposed to sweat from my head during the 'mild' alabama summers
 and rust.I can just barely use them when I'm shotgunning or doing prone rifle work, but I CAN use them. They claimed they could be used behind the head or over the top but don't really seem to be either comfortable or secure enough for behind the head. They work fine over a ballcap though. Make sure any kind you get, you can replace the padding, (you can with the peltor's), over time that padding will get hard and/or loose it's aircell and they'll get mighty unpleasant to wear. I resisted getting a pair for years, didn't think they were all THAT great. I was wrong. |
