I've been sick for about the last month. I took antibiotics for bronchitis and Iam finally done with that although my ear closed up and hasn't been the same since.

If I blow my nose I can hear liquid bubbling around. At first I had alot of pain and took antibiotic drops for it. That got rid of the pain. Now I still can't hear much and it affects my balance. I've tried a water and hydrogen peroxide mixture hoping it would break up whatever is in there. I've tried sucking it out with a baby suction squeezer. In addition to that Iam taking sudafed triple action hoping it will help drain my head.

Iam trying to avoid a trip to the ear nose and throat specialist because my whole family has been sick and we've spent alot of money this month on copays and medicine.

Anyone deal with ear blockage due to sinus infection and how did you fix it?

One of my ears blocked up for over two weeks a few years ago. I could barely hear out of that ear and it was messing up my balance and giving me headaches. I tried everything and nothing worked. Eventually I had to go to and ENT and they put a tube in my ear. Problem was fixed in 5 minutes.

The problem is inside the eardrum not outside, so putting stuff in there won't work.
What you need is Sudafed.
ETA-  nevermind, missed that part.  Keep taking it for a week or so.

Use REGULAR Sudafed with no antihistamines and blow up some balloons. Drink plenty of fluids as well. SS

OK. I've quit taking the antibiotic drops since there is no more pain.

1. Go to a Thai restaurant
2. Order the hottest thing on the menu and request it be made native Thai hot
3. Observe all head fluids drain
4. Crap napalm

They make home earwax flushing kits (got mine at walmart). I've used them, they work well. Drip of the oil in your ear before hand helps a lot.

A mixture of 1/2 white vinegar, and 1/2 rubbing alcohol. Use as ear drops. We have used this for 30 years, and it works wonders for chronic 'swimmers ear'. If the ear is infected, you still need antibiotics.
Google 'ear drop mixtures'. There is a bunch of similar recipe's in there.

Having spent some time in Thailand, do this!  I had some dishes there that were like flaming gasoline soup sprinkled with CS.

The fluid is likely in your middle ear, so anything you put in your outer ear is unlikely to work at all.

Your eustachian tubes are not draining your ear properly.  See an ENT.

Tycho of PA recently coined the phrase, "Like analingus on a tire fire."

I agree nothing applied externally will clear this up. Iam going to continue with the sudafed and give till next Monday to heal. That will be two weeks its been blocked.

I have had this problem before and my Dr told me to hold my nose and "pop" my ears to push the fluid out. It sounds kinda stupid but it does work.

This technique using a neti pot seems to be breaking up the clog..

This. But first you need to dry up the fluid in your head.  I used Claritan to clear mine up years ago before it was OTC.

Tell the cooks they can't make it hot enough.

This works well.  Try using this bottle instead of a neti pot.  With the netti pot you have to rely on gravity.  The bottle allows you to push the water deep into your sinus cavity/ears.

Nasal decongestants, both oral an topical spray.  Keep the nose open.  Then pinch nose closed, close mouth, and try to breathe in hard, to reduce pressure in inner ear.

You know actually I blew up quite a bit of pool floats a month prior to this. Also got some water in my ear that went away in a day.

See a chiropractor. The right one can adjust your ears/sinus cavities. I had a similar problem in high school and our sports doc/chiropractor cleared it up almost instantly.

You need the resistance that pool floats don't provide.
