Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - dvd's wont play but normal cd's will

I have a compaq laptop presario x6000 it has an 100 gig harddrive 1 gig of ram and the dvd player has worked fine for the 2 years i have had the laptop but now it will not play any dvd it doesnt show that there is a disk in the drive when you look in explorer but normal cd's work fine any one have any idea's i have tried updates and rolling back the computer.

sounds like it doesn't have a dvd drive


when you look at the drive itsself does it say DVD ?
