If memory serves, folks in Japan who own what we would consider medium-sized cars (Accords, etc.) are pretty fucking rich.  Taxes, parking, insurance and such are all pricey there.  That's why there are so many motorcycles and small cars with weird names like the "Honda Today."

IDK there are all kinds of cars here the hot one seems to be the Toyota Alphard luxury van. They are everywhere.

My cousin is on the waiting list for the 2024, he said it’s about a one year wait. In the interim he bought a Mazda CX-8 and his son drives some sort of Toyota van but I didn’t get the model of it.

Yeah there are also a lot of smaller cars and trucks. I freaking want a Landcruiser Prado and I’m digging some of the tiny minivans. Those things look pretty cool.

I went to Kyoto in December before tourists came back.  It was really special and I fell in love with the city.

The Toyota vans are the one that I want. Cool as shit and everyone puts better wheels and raised white letter tires on them.

Yes! They all have rims and white lettering on the tires. They look sick AF. The vans are everywhere.

Today I counted 11 G wagons and 4 Ferraris. There’s a shit ton of money here. Headed to Kyoto tomorrow. I’m stupid tired and put Kyoto instead of Osaka in the last post. I need to shower and get some sleep. Oyasuminasai

Random stupid pic dump. It’s 11am. I’m sick and it’s a kiln outside. I’ve eaten nothing but garbage while out doing side quests: getting yen, rail passes, SIM card etc.

1st meal was Mericadonalds because nothing around the hotel is open until 10am at the earliest. Night time is crazy. It’s dead during the AM

Dunno. Lots of Toyota Crowns and they are giant.

Now modified cars? Yeah they are rich or have bad priorities like me. You have to tear them apart and return to stock for inspections every couple years. That is why almost everyone has new cars there

Crowns and nicer large cars are generally hired cars for businessmen, especially gaijin businessmen. I might have fit that description a few times.

The extremely rigorous Japanese inspection laws - way beyond even CA's wildest dreams here - were and are a form of subsidy for Japanese OEMs. It kept their plants running through thick and thin. Something most Americans don't get is that, 2009 financial crisis bailout excepted, America is the only nation in the world that doesn't regularly subsidize its auto industry and/or own it - looking at you Germany and China.

I’m hoping to get back to Japan next year. Great pics. The Starbucks in Harajuku was the nicest I found in Tokyo. Good people watching and the patio feels like you’re in a park on the second floor.

My son leaves for a vacation in Japan later this week. He loves the cars, the Anime, and the culture. He goes every chance that he can. This trip was scheduled and postponed due to the Wuhan Flu. Luckily he has a good friend who speaks the lingo and shares his affinity for Japan. They go together and have a great time exploring the country.

Yes.

What the heck is it with Japanese cuisine dousing everything in gravies though?
