I have been going to Sonic for years and never thought of it. I order, a girl brings me my food. I pay for it. She leaves. I don’t see any reason to tip. If she came back and waited on me or did anything more surely she deserves something but not for delivering food. Now I get called a cheep bastard for not giving the girl a dollar or TWO for delivering a 4 dollar hamburger.

WTF. Is that crazy or what?

Is there a story behind this? Tipping at sonic would be like inviting sKerry along on a hunting trip . . . pointless.

Naw....I won't make the comment that I thought I might.

It's too early in the day for horn-dog talk.

Living in Vegas, where most people make their living on tips, you learn to appreciate good service. I tip if I receive good service whether I'm at a restaurant, bar, or getting my oil changed. "TIPS" is actually an acronym (To Insure Proper Service) and when a service provider receives a gratuity for going above and beyond the call of duty it often makes them provide better service. Most service providers receive minimum wage and tips are a much needed supplement to their income.

I guess that living in Vegas for as long as I have has me so used to tipping that I don't give it a second thought. I do know this, when I go back to an establishment where I have "taken care of" the service provider, I receive quicker and better service.

Yes , I tip the girls at sonic. Unless she is ugly. Just kidding. Let me ask you this , would you feel a little better after doing your job and you got a small reward? I know I do and these girls do work pretty hard. They (most of them) look good doing it too!My 2 cents. Take care.

Always. Sonic is a great connection to a wonderful part of American history, and I'd like to think it stays around (and the kids there are pretty friendly and courteous).

Yes, I normally tip and Sonic.

BUT, I refuse to eat there until they get rid of those two fags that they have on their commercials now.

Around here, we call them "Neil & Bob"

I tried them 3-4 different times at the 2 closest locations, terrible service, terrible food.

+1, unless its just a few cents. Then I'll slip her a buck.......

I guess I don't get it. They run a bag of food out to my car and I never see them again. How can they go above and beyond? I mean it's not like they are keeping my drinks filled and checking to see if I need any more sauce. The only thing they can do wrong is NOT bring me my bag of food. Seems kinda like tipping the lady who scans my groceries because she was nice enough not to throw them on the floor.

I go to the drive-thru to aviod it anyway, why am I going to tip for fast food?

People who don't tip sonic waitresses are doing a disservice to that traditional way of handling food. I am quite aware that they merely roller skate out to a vehicle and deliver your food with a smile and a kind word. That they are doing a job that entails a little more than standing behind a counter and maintaining a part of history merits a tip easily.

If I can't afford to tip at least 2 bucks at sonic then I'll go to wendys.

It doesn't matter how much the meal is - tip the poor gal and feel good about it.

Does it make anyone feel good NOT tipping the waitresses?

Cough up a damned dollar - geez...

They get whatever change or 50 or 75 cents (I keep a stash of quarters in my truck) or if the chick is REALLY good looking and has a good attitude, a buck.

Sorry, $2 for skating my food out to me-especially after I ordered through a microphone? Nope.

BTW, the Sonic closest to me is also pretty close to the local high school, so there's some real jailbait hotties working there. Greater majority of the time I'm tipping a buck.
Link Posted: 9/29/2004 6:31:42 AM EST
No, they make $5.15 Hr
Link Posted: 9/29/2004 6:34:51 AM EST
If I park and wai to have the young lady bring me my food. then yes I tip,
no much but a dollar here and there would add up to her in the shift.

If its a drive through no. that why I drive through.
Link Posted: 9/29/2004 6:36:15 AM EST
i always tip a buck or so, might go up if the girls REALLY cute and smiles right
