wow nice pics. Some of those funnels were fricken huge. I have never seen a tornado and am fascinated by them. I bet it would be a different story if I dealt with them every year though. Could you post a caption by the pics though so I could understand what I am looking at a bit more.

I got those same pics in an e-mail about a week ago. The info line read: Katrina comming ashore.
Awesome pics! |

If I saw one of those giant funnel clouds touch down anywhere within my visible horizon I'd probably freeze up and piss myself.

I got that email but my filters said it contained a virus so I deleted it. Those are awesome pics. Thanks. |

Got those last week as well. Only one of them is from Katrina.

Those are some good pictures. There's a bunch more here: extremeinstability.com/my_chase_accounts.htm Same photographer.

Okay I forwarded these pics to a friend of mine (Ryan Towell, AMS certified) that was the weatherguy on the local TV station and here is his reply.

In the next to the last picture there is a "face" in the center bottom of the cloud. I didn't see it but when I showed the pictures to my daughter and that was the first thing she saw in that picture. Very cool.

If I saw anything that remotely resembled one of those pictures, you'd be able to find me in the nearest church... with soiled undergarments.

The link I posted earlier has all of the pictures and a short title of where they're from. |

Hey two, did he get any good ones from today. I went out after it but couldn't punch through the hails shaft without bustin up my truck. Was a hell of a storm. Moved quick too-too fast to get around!

My wife has a DEEP fear of Tornados.
She's under the couch right now! Amazing pics. thanks |
|
FYI, only one of those pictures were of a tornado. The rest were mesocyclones, which are not known to cause any damage. Occasionally a tornado will pop out of one, but usually not. They are merely large circulating updrafts which feed the cloud.

awesome..thanks for the link! I used to live in Nebraska, the summertime weather, esp the lightning storms kick ass! |

Very eerie. A friend of mine sent me the exact same photos - I do mean the exact same ones. She is the photographer's mother, and he works on an oil rig. If this sounds like him, let me know. |
