I am guessing the gun is stolen because it looks like some poor homeboy loaded it up with cheap blazer 9mm fmj.

I already have a Glock 19. A 26 would be a perfect addition. (Actually, I would have turned it into the police).

Idiot girl..

I love how they stress "A loaded Glock handgun ready to fire, round in the chamber, semi-automatic handgun"

She should have pulled the trigger and saved us of her stupidity.

Holy batshit, even I'm smart enough to know not to look down the barrel with my hand on the trigger.

Looked like a very nice neighborhood.  Obviously, not the hood.  Probably someone's car gun that fell out when the door was opened would be my guess.  Whatever the case, I wouldn't want to be the poor bastard who lost it...

Damn!

I wish I could find a Glock.

A bad situation but I agree with you. The news mainly just scares the hell out of people, esp. those with little or no knowledge of guns.

"I started to cry and had tears in my eyes."

How stupid are those workers on the roof? I'm sure she didn't toss it up without being asked.
Link Posted: 12/23/2003 2:32:06 PM EDT
This is the exact scenario that frightens most people about guns. This is why I have always advocated community firearms courses for families. This young girl was extremely fortunate. She's damn lucky the thing didn't go off when she tried to toss the pistol up to the construction guys...[b]TWICE!!![/b] By the time my girls are that age, they'd have removed the mag, unchambered the round, and disassembled that Glock in no time flat. All the while performing with flawless safety techniques. And they'd know to bring the pistol home to daddy.

I just watched it, she one lucky kid. I went and got my son (he 10 and has been shooting and around our guns with since 5) and had him watch it and had him point out the mistake this kid made. He saw and told me the all mistakes this kid made. Kids that are not around guns have no idea what to do him they find one.

Later,
Gavino

She is not a little kid, she is old enough and should be smart enough to know what the fuck to do when FINDING a firearm.
Her parents need to have their front teeth kicked in and she needs to be fixed so she can't breed.

I can see the headlines coming from HCI - guns awash in the streets of America.....

[sarcasm]Whew! Thank God for the Glock Safe Action safety! Another child saved![/sarcasm]

For those of you who say "She is just a little girl" what if she had found a baggie of heroin and a needle and poked it in her vein by accident. "Oh, I was so scared. That needle just stuck right in my arm." If you know guns are dangerous, and you are sure you know nothing about guns, then why in the hell would you pick one up, nevermind all the other stupid shit she did?

Did anyone else notice that the field guy got introduced as the Beaver Butler? How sweet would that job be. "Oh Beaver Butler, my beaver is getting a little rowdy and needs a good spanking."

You're right.  She's just a little girl.

But you know what?  MY little girl, who is 1/3 this dipshit's age, would have known better.  Know why?  Because I DRILL INTO HER HEAD rules about firearms.  Her first and foremost rule:  she does NOT TOUCH it.  She knows they can be dangerous, when handled incorrectly.  I can almost guarantee that in that situation (granted, she wouldn't be out walking around alone) she'd have at the very least just left it alone.  And, since I or my wife would have been with her, she would have told us about it, and we could have handled it correctly.

I agree with SGTIMAK.  Someone should find her dad (or her mother for that matter) and beat the fuck out of them.  Nothing like raising a clueless child.
Link Posted: 12/23/2003 3:56:46 PM EDT
They act like the gun was a wild animal or something.  It's a good thing that Glock didn't decide to open up a can of whoop ass, this time we were LUCKY!

Leelaw,

Kind of harsh... you don't have kids, do you?
Link Posted: 12/23/2003 4:20:48 PM EDT
What I wouldv'e done is this....she waves me over as an adult  and says look here responsable adult a hand gun lying on the ground. in my head I'd be saying "SWEET" but to her i'd say "oh my god don't touch it!"then i'd place it in my pocket clear my throat and say "you've done the right thing finding a responseble adult ([rolleyes]), i'll give this to the police immediatly!" i'd hand her a lollypop then walk down the street waving to her "don't worry i'm heading to the police station now" of course i'm forgetful and might just decide to go home.

That is what I was thinking.  But no, we can't have gun safety taught in school it might cause a child to become interested in firearms.  But handing out free condoms for safe sex...you bet.

Guess I'm a "homie" because I shoot cheap ammo thru my Glock.  WalMart Winchester whitebox is good enough for me.  (now, I CARRY Speer 124gr GDHPs)

I had to "Disable" my Norton Internet Security Professional, then open a new IE window to get it to work. Also had to allow popups in the Google Toolbar for that page. I think Norton was the hangup, though.

Damn.  beat me to it.  The safety would most likely have been on, and the palm safety would have added another safety level.

500.00 gun loaded with the cheapest ammo available.
Link Posted: 12/24/2003 4:49:01 AM EDT
My wild guess......someone bought a new Glock, notice the sticker still on the magazine, doesnt know a lot about ammo, etc. so they just bought the cheepest the dealer had, puts it in their car (door pocket maybe), and it fell out when they got out of the car. Seems feasable since she found it in the gutter basically. Owner is probably too scared/embarrassed to claim it now.
As for the girl......[shock][^]

For those who would have thought about keeping it, had you, and it was stolen, you would then be in possesion of stolen property. Not a good thing for a gunowner [;)].

Most kids are going to pick the gun up. Especially kids that have never been around guns.

Most kids are going to think a plastic gun is a toy. Especially kids that have never been around guns.

I don't have an excuse for the guys on the roof.

Thank God the girl is safe.
