my uncle had a dagger from his service in the navy and I have never seen one like it before. I don't have a pic and I am am working from childhood memory so stick with me. it was about 11" long with a 5" blade. the blade was thin and narrow about 1/2" to 3/4" wide. I think it was double edged and the edges ran parallel until about 1" from the point and then they tapered in like a dagger. the handle was a blond colored wood and had wave like bevels running into the handle to form a grip. I think there were about 2 waves or cuts into the handle. it had 3 large brass pins holding the wood panels to the blade. i think the blade stuck out past the end of the handle about 1/2" and had a hole drilled for a lanyard. like a it looked to be a pure fighting knife and not a survival or K-bar knife. i know it's not a SYKES FAIRBAIRN or a V-42 it came in a presentation case with a glass cover and it was inscribed with something like his unit??? any idea what it was? or who made it?

Possibly an M3 fighting knife? I don't know though...

i looked at the M3 knives. the handle looks wrong. i don't think it was leather and i don't remember a guard.

Sounds like an EK fighting knife. They are long and slender with three scallopes on each side of the handle. Also has a full tang with lanyard hole. Guards are small up curved tabs on top and bottom. Maybe?

the pics from my net search of EK knives look like what i remeber. i was just a little kid but that seems to be the knife. makes you wonder about where things go and who get's them after someone dies. the knife is probably in a pawn shop or somewhere. i have ask "the family" but they don't know where it is or remember that he had it. thanks,
