My little brother tells me this movie is awesome. I must be out of the loop because I never heard of it until he mentioned it. I bought it the other day off ebay and I'm waiting for it in the mail. Is it worth the $10 I spent?

I think its worth it. I own it.

Not Full Metal Jacket good but definetly Red Dawn good. .In the deleted scenes on the dvd the phone conversation with the mom is hilarious.

I have a collection, but only the greats make it in. From the way you guys talk, I assume this movie is, in terms of sheer entertainment value, on par with movies like Saving Private Ryan, The Punisher (2004) (yes, it suites my untutored, un-PC standards of a "great"), Colatteral, The Patriot, etc...

I know I'm gonna get for this, but....

The movie was a good idea, just waaay too cheesy for my taste. Tried to be super-dramatic all the time and just came off looking stupid. The character development was at times really bad. I am still trying to figure out how it is that this old guy who is trying to kill them suddenly says "hey kids, it's daddy" and they all just get along after that.

All in all, I found the special effects/shootouts to be quite entertaining (if not anywhere near realistic), but the movie itself was only sub-mediocre to mediocre. The "public interviews" during the credits was a very nice touch.

Still worth a rent, though. But if you haven't watched the other two un-official Arfcom movies ("Heat" and "Red Dawn"), see them first (in that order).

It's my favorite cat movie.

"And when I vest my flashing sword And my hand takes hold in judgement I will take vengeance upon mine enemies And I will repay those who hase me O Lord, raise me to Thy right hand And count me amoung Thy saints ."

"Whosoever shed last blood. By man shall his blood be shed. For immunity of god make he the man. Destroy all that which is evil. So that which is good may flourish. And I shall count thee amoung my favoured sheep. And you shall have the protection of all the angels in heaven."

"Never shall innocent blood be shed. Yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river. The three shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeaful striking hammer of god. "

I disagree OBird. I think the movie was exactly as intended...nothing more or less.

I also believe it is a very good action comedy/spoof. The "brothers" were very good in my opinion.

I'm 58 and like to think I am a discriminating movie buff (maybe not, but its MY fantasy) and I consider a good many of todays movies as little more than garbage. However, Boondock Saints is a good one IMHO. Its a keeper for my DVD collection.

It's OK. I was entertained, but don't know if I'd want to own it.

As for the $10 to buy it used on eBay, surely you could've found it new for that price at a discount joint like Fry's Electronics, Best Buy, etc. But, if it was $10 total (meaning that INCLUDES the shipping costs too), that's not a bad purchase.

There have been rumors of a sequel called All Saints Day but those have been going around for years. I'm not holding my breath.

Bear in mind that this movie was shot an an absolutely shoe string budget, so it's gonna be cheesy if you judge it against movies costing $50 or 60 million to make. It is the project of a nice Irish American guy named Troy Duffy, from Boston. He pretty much did everything for the movie; it was only sheer luck that it ever got made.

There is plenty of gun play, and some of the performances are good...nobody's gonna win an oscar here, but it gets the job done. Defoe is absoulutely over the top, for example, but the "comic" relief guy is hilarious.

The great one liners abound in this flick, and coupled with the basic plot...good guys take it upon themselves to off bad guys with extreme prejudice...it's bound to be a favorite here.

what can I say, but:

"And Shepherds we shall be

For thee, my Lord, for thee.

Power hath descended forth from Thy hand

Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy commands.

So we shall flow a river forth to Thee

And teeming with souls shall it ever be.

In Nomeni Patri Et Fili Spiritus Sancti."

If you just want to be entertained, and don't expect Lord of the Rings quality, you'll like it...unless you're such a fag lol. (that's a line from the movie)

Entertaining as hell. It's not Citizen Kane, but it's funny and has some decent, unrealistic action.

"A six-shooter? What were you going to do, funnyman, laugh the last three to death?"
