Excuse me, but I like my Compaq Presario 1500. It has served me better than any other laptop I have owned. What do you like? IBM stink pad? Packard Hell?

i like the computer, its a quality unit that never failed in any way. i only used it while my other laptop was in the shop and then i restored it to the origional factory settings.
i just need cash right now more than another computer. |

I've seen these at Wal Mart for $26.85 and they come with a free printer and 100 rounds of ammo. [:D]

Compaq (hehe) had a better support history than HP, so it is unclear how well HP will continue support the Compaq lines. Hopefully HP will adopt Compaq’s support standards.
I prefer IBMs and Toshibas they seem to be tougher. I just ordered a Gateway 400SP with a 2.2 GHZ Celereon, 30G HD, 512M RAM, DVD/CDRW, 15 inch screen, multimedia drive (takes all the current memory cards) and a Targus case for $875 delivered... Granted its not P4, but its $600-$700 less.
Damn you can get a lot these days compared to when computers hit the market. In grad school I bought a Compaq Concerto with a 486 DX33 processor, mono screen, 32 megs of RAM and a 1G HD (if that) for like $1,400 in 1995. |

When I graduated from High School I bought an all in one printer/computer/monitor/and dual 5 1/2" floppy drive 'puter for $2600. It had 640k of memory and hard drives were unheard of. |
