Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - any guesses as to what this drive letter will be?

ordered a dvd+rw drive from newegg.

current config is:
c: primary master hd
d: seconday master hd
e: plextor scsi cd-rom
f: primary slave cd-recorder
g: secondary slave hd

i will remove drive d: and e: and install the dvd+rw.

what will windoze (xp pro) assign as the drive letter for the dvd drive?

i have a load of games on g:, i should probably plan on those not working anymore... (?)

You can tell XP pro what letter YOU want each drive to be. If/when you change letters, your old shortcut probably won't work, but you can easily create new ones.

Edited to add: I always name(label) my drives the letter they are before I start moving them around. It lessens the cornfusion.[:)]

I always make my hard drives C: - OS D: - Data F: "fun stuff" video

The CD's and DVD's go up from X:, Y:, and Z:
