looking at a CZ 75BD or a Taurus PT92

already have a CZ75B so if I went the CZ route I'd have magazine commonality.

As to the Taurus, I like the idea of a Beretta 92ish platform that actually has the safety/decocker in the right place. I also own a 92FS and M9 and am familiar with the set up. Biggest downside to the Taurus is that its mags don't interchange with the Beretta's

CZ

Trigger on the PT92 (the one in my safe) is a mushy pile of fail.

CZ, better gun

No brainier CZ

I had a Tauras 99 back in the day and liked it a lot, one of the more accurate 9MM I have owned, but from what I have read the CZs are hard to beat.

Get something different, a CZ, but not a BD. Maybe an SP-01 or an 85 Combat?

Check out the canik55 ( or Tri star) line. They are cz clones and the quality is good. I have a t-100 and was so impressed with it that I ordered a canik stingray. The price is good too.

CZ, no question. Taurus makes garbage, even if I agree with you about the placement of the safety.

Go with CZ and if you want something else put Taurus at the bottom of the list. Some will chime in on how they have had good luck with them but most times they are complete junk thats should have never made it through a QC dept.

Dear arfcom:

I have a two year old lame mule. I also have a thoroughbred stallion that was descended from Northern Dancer. Now which animal should I take to the race track?

The correct answer to the question is the thoroughbred stallion. And similarly the answer to the OP's question is CZ. Choose the thoroughbred and not the lame mule

No question about it, CZ. I just got a P-02 for less than $500 shipped.

CZ all the way.
Only buy Taurus if you enjoy being a quality control person because Taurus certainly doesn't employ any.
From my brief time in the gun business it would seem that Taurus would have QC running pretty good then all of a sudden the next 5 gun received from them would be total crap. No rhyme or reason to it, good production runs then junk.
Link Posted: 12/15/2013 5:19:50 AM EST
CZ. Much better trigger and more accurate.

While I will admit to having a PT92, it's one I paid less than $250 for and is the "have an extra gun in a drybag just to have another gun" pistol. Reliable, yes, accuracy and trigger, not so much.

Taurus is just a horrible brand. Anything named Taurus sucks. Cars, guns, prosthetic vibrating fists, or monkey hats. It doesn't matter.

I saw that in an advert once, I too thought they were clones of the CZ75 but they also had Sig clones. Is that right?

Just sayin'.

Something different maybe? Find a TZ-75...Sorta looks like a CZ-75 and a High-Power had a kid. Mine is a flawless performer with a DA trigger pull to die for.

I have one of the older Taurus, made when beretta turned the factory over to them. it's decent quality. They went down hill for a while, but have improved slowly over the years. They aren't all junk anymore.

How is this a question?

Don't forget mags.

Ok, never carried a CZ before, but how do you carry it? Cocked and locked? DA/SA?
Link Posted: 12/15/2013 6:13:44 AM EST
What? I don't even.....

This is really being asked?

Depends on the model and on personal preferences.

SAO models are obviously carred C&L, while decocker models are obviously carried hammer-down. For normal DA/SA safety-equipped models, they can be carried in either condition. I myself only carry C&L; the only CZ of mine that gets shot DA is the Shadow, and that's because first-shot DA is required in USPSA Production.

FWIW, the original design for the CZ75 was SAO; DA had to be added to meet customer/contractual requirements.

07 and P09 can be changed from safety for cocked and locked to decocker

CZ vs Taurus? Is this a real question?

CZ is the correct choice.

CZ vs Taurus? What the hell, OP?

Between those two, it's obviously CZ all the way. Outside of 1911s, I have yet to find a semi auto pistol as good as a CZ with trigger work.

If you really want another Beretta based pistol, I'd suggest a 92G... If you can find one. It'd be a far better addition to your collection than a Taurus. I put in some effort to find mine, and I'm glad I did.

Obligatory CZ pic:

And the Beretta:

If you are interested in a Taurus, why not try to find a used Beretta M92?

I have over 5k rounds through mine. Not one single malfunction. I've had colts have problems in less rounds. I didn't say t hey we're top of the line, just that they weren't all junk. A 300 dollar pistol is not going to be as good As a 500 or 600 dollar pistol. But they aren't junk.

I prefer other pistols, like my M&P, but not all Tauruses are junk.

Maybe I was lucky, but originally Beretta made Taurus 9mm, then turned the factory over to Brazil. I have an older one, and it's a decent pistol.

Not my favorite gun, but it works. Other than replacing the spring, and changing the grips, I've not had to do anything to it.

The CZ is the better gun, but not all Taurus pistol are junk.
