Cinemax has optioned the rights to The Skin Trade, the 1988 offbeat “werewolf noir” novella by George R.R. Martin, for a TV series project, which the Game Of Thrones author will executive produce.

...the drama, titled Skin Trade, will center on Willie Flambeaux, a collections agent who happens to be a werewolf, and his friend, Randi Wade, a private investigator, who discover a dark secret behind a series of grisly murders in their decaying industrial city.

This article about the show certainly is optimistic:

Glad to see that GRRM has another distraction to keep him from finishing A Game of Thrones.

Hopefully Sanderson will be available to finish it up.

Yep.

Looks like the show is going to finish up before the books ever do.

The show has already gone past the most recent book IMO

It was taking him half a decade to finish a book when he had not much else on his plate.

I doubt he finishes.

Yea i know uhggg.   As long as the show doesn't influence the books then I'm OK,  I just don't feel that the two guys who do the HBO can do the story better the Martin.

Definitely.  Hell, I think there's a decent chance the show finishes before book 6 comes out.

Tuf Voyaging would be a better TV series.

Has it been signed for production?

Ironically enough he always manages to finish off a buffet...

I started reading the series right when it first came out. The ever increasing publishing timeline for new material, and the noticeable decline in material when it finally comes makes having much faith in him actually being able to tie everything up before he drops dead rather difficult.

The dust jackets on the first editions of the first two books were even better than what came later.
