This show is so full of mis-truths and BS and every AR15/M16 gunshow myth I have to stop watching. 20mins on this or any other firearms site would have...nevermind.  its TV. The graphic with the mutant 55 round mag in between segments has got to be the worst though.

Such as?  I thought it was okay when I saw it.

7.62x39mm AP can penetrate a TANK. From the N. Hollywood bank robbery segment toward the beginning.

ETA: It isn't that bad, overall.

Isn't that the show that some "expert" says it was designed to penetrate tank armor or some shit?

ETA:^^^^beat me.

that and the BS that the Army was responsible for the changes that led to the M16A2. Last time I checked, that was the Marine Corps, who were also the first branch to adopt the A2

Also I thought it was a little dramatic about the knock down power...  I think it said 600 yrds?

Is there much energy left?
Plus its only 55gr  at 600 yrds too

The guy that did the build was a dork.

Oh no not the XM-8!!

And now the 416!?!?

Parts of it are good. Yea, there is some stupid shit. But, overall it's not that bad. The worst part is the beginning. Its gets better.

A lot of these shows are produced by Brits, they have no fucking clue what is going on.

The HK 416 myth was just over the top.

As big a HK defender as I am,

That test was BS.

I enjoyed the portion of the show on the history of the development of the weapon by Eugene Stoner.

I also saw the quote from the SWAT guy saying the AK round was ment to go through tanks.

I like how they are talking about the M16 and only show footage of the M14 in Vietnam.  I also like the part were they say the M1 weighs 14 pounds, not sure if they meant the rifle and ammo but it sounded like just the rifle.

Went back and watched it again.

There were a lot of
statements but overall it was a good program; lot of slo-mo full-auto shooty goodness.

the HK test was quite lol too..... hmmmm dust cover is closed.... and your proving what?

Couldn't they find a less homoerotic individual to be an "enthusiast"?

Their account of the North Hollywood Bank Robbery was complete BS.  They glanced over the little fact while they were waiting for the SWAT dudes a couple of patrol officers went to a local gun shop and commandeered a couple of AR-15s.  Monteserrano's CAR-15 had a double drummed mag and the narrator stated that the magazine held "200 rounds" " Gee I thought Beta-C mags only held 100 rounds? I'm a stickler for the facts and turned it off in disgust after 15 minutes.  Now the two hour special preceding it about Snipers was the cat's ass.

I always thought the USMC rifle team was behind the A2

Now, wait a minute, there.

I shot a propane tank with a 50 V-Max and it penetrated.

So there.

1/4 of the show is about the North Hollywood Shootout.

No Thanks.

I died laughing when I saw that!  But the show about Snipers was awesome right before that.

Thought it was awful.  Laughed and turned the program off with great passion when the rolled mustache guy was shooting an AR pistol from the hip.

But they make it out like the AR15 was his first design.  He designed the AR10, which competed with the FAL and the M14 (I forget the test model numbers of each) for the contract.

The AR10 was later downsized to the 5.56 round to meet the requirements they asked for later.

Not sure if this is true, but I have read that Stoner wanted nothing to do with the 5.56 version.

I like how they shoot tannerite as they mention how powerful it is.

ETA: did the hot chick shooting from the hip during the closing credits have an Obama tee shirt on? She was only on screen for a second and there were things I needed to look at that were more important than the letters on her shirt

It was an HK  416 fellatio if I ever saw one.

"The military wants to retire the m16/ar15 to something more reliable" and it basically became an HK love fest.

I stopped watching after it started in on the North Hollywood shootout.  For an event where NO ONE was killed but the two gunmen, it sure has gotten a lot of airtime on shows like this proclaiming how undergunned the cops were and how evil the bad guys' guns were.

I only saw the first 15mins of the re-run at 3am before I fell asleep. Seemed good for what it was: A History Channel show about a military rifle that had to be dumbed-down/dramatized for the non-gun general public.

The sniper show that was on before it was excellent, though. Being as though I don't have the Military Channel such programming on the History Channel was welcomed.

Wasn't he the tool who was on every media outlet during the week leading up to the AWB expiring? Spreading his BS about rifles holding hundreds of rounds, firing thousands of rounds a minute and the ability to shoot through an engine block. Oh, that and the streets were going to flow with blood on September 13, 2004.

I'm 87% certain that he is the same douche-canoe you mentioned.

Spent the entire show wanting to reach into the TV and shove that damn magazine all the way in.

The obama plug also raised an eyebrow...I can't even watch a show about guns without seeing a picture of that douche.

The HK commercial didn't bother me that much because it reminded me of the "...because you suck and we hate you" letter and i got a good laugh out of looking that up again.

14lbs.

I think a national match with medium barrel and heavy stock, with a scope and bipod might weigh 14lbs.

But I never have held a "real" M14. Did they have light, med, or heavy barrels.

My standard M1A weighs less than an M1 garand.

The history channel has been on a roll of gun misinformation as of late. In in most recent episode of "gangland" covering 2 rival gangs in OKC they and an officer described the thugs as using an "sks assault rifle" and went on to show re-enacted footage and videos of perps with what were clearly AK's, then SKS's, then AK's with the officer explaining to the audience that the "sks is a high powered clip fed weapon which holds 20-30 rounds.

I'm with you 100%. When they have a show and they bring in the "experts" and they can't get their facts strait then they loose all creditability with me.
