don't they just about always do that in a felony case?

plenty of time for a plea left.

Isn't that pretty typical so they have time to work out a deal before a guilty plea?

No - Defendant is just waiting for a prosecutor to be assigned.
He will plead guilty and seek a 4 year deal.

i think they will work out some kind of plea deal and he will change his plea. he video taped a confession. i'm not sure what else the DA needs to fry his ass. He just needs time to attempt to get the best deal possible.

Not guilty plea is entered, then everyone negotiates lesser deals, if agreements aren't reached it goes to trial.

Ahh, ok. I know that he can change his plea at any point, but I didn't know why he wouldn't plea guilty right off the bat.
