I dunno...I'm not feeling this kid as Mitch Rapp. Not at all. What say the hive? (Oddly enough, I think Keaton shows promise.)
AMERICAN ASSASSIN Official Trailer (2017) Dylan O'Brien, Michael Keaton Thriller Movie HD |

Read all the books. looks good but he looks a little younger than I imagined and not quite mean enough. We'll see I guess. Mitch Rapp is a motherfucker in the books. Makes Jack Reacher look reasonable. Too bad Vince isn't around to see it R.I.P. Vince

American Assassin is set when Rapp is just getting recruited, right?
The SAS has been doing it wrong since the beginning. They should focus on college lacrosse and a BJJ school.

I've read all the books. My impression is that he was tall, broad shouldered and muscular. A badass.
Not a skinny little guy. |
Hollyweird FUCKS EVERYTHING UP!
Wrong plot line. Wrong casting. WTF! I've ready every book in the Mitch Rapp series. This is bullshit. |
Not who I pictured as Mitch Rapp...and is that Irene Kennedy also?
That's not Mitch Rapp.
And that damn sure isn't Irene Kennedy. |
I always thought Eric Bana for Rapp & Everett McGill (the bad merc in Under Seige 2: Dark Territory) for Stan Hurley. And I don't know why, but I always picture Vanessa Williams (like her age in "Eraser") as Irene Kennedy when I've read Flynn's novels--something about how Vince Flynn described her eyes and "poker face." She's a babe with facial control.
Keaton shows promise, though, in this clip, but still now how I pictured Stan Hurley. |
It'll turn out that a white PMC masterminded all the trauma that created Mitch's mindset, and he'll kill him with some environmental hazard after sparing a ROP'er. Maybe Keaton is the mastermind. I'm betting on Kitsch.

I also thought of Damien Lewis as Scott Coleman....
But I think George Takai is a brilliant call! LMAO! |
Keaton looks good to me for the role.
Kid for Rapp does look too young I think. I agree I always pictured more of an Eric Bana. I'm trying to remember how old he was supposed to have been in Assassin though, it may be closer than I recalled. Will see in theaters regardless. My favorite author by far. RIP Vince |

Taylor kitch or whatever his name is in this movie and he is not Mitch Rapp? WTF. I guess he played that character already in Savages.
That is horrible casting but the movie looks like it might be good. Mitch Rapp books are pretty decent. |
Didn't Flynn say Rapp was 6'01" 175lbsor 180lbs, muscular and a triathlete?
And swarthy. |
Sorry, this is majorly screwed up. It should be noted as loosely based upon - using characters names only. His parents die in a car wreck - not; his girl friend dies on a beach with him there - not even close. Why make a movie and not even try to follow the book? Mitch Rapp is a 6' 4" dark skin, dark hair bad ass with a solid build. This actor could maybe play his brother, maybe.
I'm obviously not familiar with the books, but the movie looks cool to me. Keaton doesn't' make all that many movies these days, but when he does, he usually does a great job in his role.
When they cast Jiminy Cricket as Jack Reacher, I says to myself, I says, it can't get any stupider than that. I was wrong.
I'm pretty sure Rapp was about 6' in the books, more because he had to "blend in" rather than be a "Jack Reacher" Chuck Connors type.
Jack Reacher was like Chuck Connors in the book, not Tom Cruise, who's like 5'6" dwarf. |
I look forward to seeing it.
That being said, I have not heard of Mitch Rapp or read any of the books spoken of here. |
Damien Puckler (Meisner) from Grimm who is I pictured as Mitch
I don't know about anybody else, but I'm kinda beat on the hey I was just minding my own business and now I'm going to kill all the bad guys movies. I blame it all on Charles Bronson.

No no no no. Fuck no. He does not give off a middle eastern look very well, too skinny. Not what I pictured him at all. His fiancee was killed on the Pan Am flight 103 not on a fucking beach.
I have wanted to see the series on screen for a long time but that does not look right. And Michael Keaton?? And I actually like Tom cruise as Jack Reacher. |

Huh... Well there's one more novel series I'll have to start digging into..

Damien Plucker's build, yes, but blue eyed, no.
Sullivan Stapleton would be a good choice, I agree, again except for blue eyes. |

Yes, because the first books in the series came out in the late 90s and Rapp was in his early 30s. American Assassin came out a few years ago but is a prequel book set in the late 80s/early 90s. The movie producers obviously wanted to set it in the present day, which I think makes sense, but that obviously means they can't use Pan Am 103 to kill his girlfriend so they made it a different terrorist attack. One of my favorite fictitious characters. If anyone has never read the Vince Flynn books, you need to read them in order.

gross. term limits and transfer of power were the best.
Both have been made into a million TV show episodes and shit movies by hacks. |
