I live and work in a small town in Ohio. I just heard about a "new" drug that is coming in to town. It is called black cocaine. All I can find on a google search is that drug dogs can not detect it and our field test kits can't either. I understand that the cocaine is mixed with charcoal and iron filings. Any info would be greatly appreciated on how to detect it and so forth.

I wonder if we can secretly add some sulfer and salt peter so when they light up it'll blow their criminal ass up!

Looks like this is only used as a way to hide coke while it is being moved around; apparently, it needs to be reprocessed into its more common form before it can be used:

"Black cocaine is not a different form of cocaine: it is the result of
attempts to avoid detection. Cocaine is blended with other
compounds to form a dark-coloured substance—not necessarily
black since it may also appear reddish. Typically, it is 40 per cent pure cocaine with cobalt and ferric chloride added. Interpol reported
that eight seizures of black cocaine were made overseas in the
12 months to May 1999; it appeared on cargo manifests as red
pigment, iron filings and toner for computer printers. After delivery,
solvents are used to turn the black cocaine back into a marketable
white powder."

It's not really on the street at the moment. I've heard about it but it's not really here.....yet.

Go to your local DEA office and ask them for a copy of "Drug Intelligence Brief
Black Cocaine - March 1999". It is a pretty extensive report on it.
It can also be obtained from EPIC, the DEA El Paso Intelligence Center.

Thanks for all of the info! We are a small department (22 officers from the Chief down) so we do a little bit of everything. We can't just call the "narcotics division" and let them do this stuff!
