I have a buddy who is going back to Iraq sometime this summer.  I thought along with the usual box of goodies I'd try to come up with some pics to include, what I'm calling "what you're fighting for" motivational pictures.  Not just hot chicks or whatever but anything you can come up with that makes you think of home the things worth going overseas to protect.  Get as sappy, sentimental, patriotic, hoaky, or uplifting as you can.  Post em here, I'll print out the best ones on photo quality prints and send them along.

Have at it hive mind... make me proud!

Have You Forgotten
Darryl Worley
Written by Darryl Worley and Wynn Varble
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground?
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start preaching
Let me ask you this my friend

CHORUS 1
Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it every day
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

CHORUS 1
Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a living hell
And we vowed to get the ones behind Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fighting for

CHORUS 2
Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Yes, some went down like heroes in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost
And those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?

Kennedy’s Mission Brings Solace to Family
Story Number: NNS021224-16
Release Date: 12/24/2002 8:22:00 AM

By Journalist 1st Class Christopher E. Tucker, USS John F. Kennedy Public Affairs

ABOARD USS JOHN F. KENNEDY, At Sea (NNS) -- USS John F. Kennedy's (CV 67) commanding officer recently received a piece of history.

After spending 24 hours at sea as a guest aboard the carrier, Mike Selverian donated a piece of granite from the rubble of the World Trade Center to Capt. Ronald H. Henderson Jr.

He presented the remnant to fulfill a request from a friend, Stephen C. Soulas. Soulas lost his brother in the Sept. 11 World Trade Center attacks. He wanted Henderson to have the granite as a way to honor his memory.

A letter accompanying the granite piece described its significance to the Soulas family. In an address to the crew, Henderson, normally smooth and polished like the face of the stone presented to him, was admittedly moved as he read the letter.

“It has been almost 15 months since my brother, Tim, and thousands like him, were killed at the hands of terrorists on Sept. 11, 2001,” wrote Soulas. “Tim was a good, decent, hard-working and very likable 35-year-old. Tim went to work that day in One World Trade Center for no other reason than to earn a living to support his growing family."

Soulas went on to tell about his brother’s family: his five children, ages 1 to 11, and the pregnant wife he left behind. He wrote the terrorist attacks took his brother’s life, but were “unsuccessful at hurting America’s pride."

Despite their loss, Soulas said he wanted the Sailors of JFK to understand how much their family appreciates and respects what the ship has done to bring his brother’s killers to justice.

“You’ve dedicated yourselves to protecting and defending this country we all love so much, and I’m here to tell you that one family in particular draws strength from your heroics every day and is very grateful,” Soulas wrote.

Soulas was permitted to collect several pieces of rubble from the north tower, where his brother worked, during a visit to Ground Zero. He pointed out that the terrorists hoped to create despair and cause Americans to question their beliefs.

“You and I know that did not happen, nor will it ever,” he wrote to Henderson, who led his crew through a deployment supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Soulas’ letter also expressed gratitude and admiration for the crew’s efforts in protecting the nation.

“I hope you will accept it as a symbol of my family’s respect and thanks for what you; and the crew of the mighty JFK, do every day to ensure our freedom, and honor the lives of those who were lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

“You have our greatest appreciation and utmost regard.”

I'm surprised at you, John....

Langadune, I like your idea, but I'd be willing to bet that your friend and his fellow warriors know full well why they are fighting, else they wouldn't be.

The clowns who need to see what we're fighting for are the dolts at DUh, the goons at the DNC, and the rest of the leftist assholes out there who somehow seem to think WE are the bad guys.

That quote should be made into a postage stamp.  I love it!

But....your buddy is over there cause some people just need to see the business end of a rifle in order to protect what's sacred to us.

Bush summed it up best.....preventative maintenance.

WTF???

Aside from being really boring, you're a total fucking asshole too!

Preying on another's grief is just about the lowest form of ratfuck behavior I can think of.  If you have a beef with this war, with the current administration, or with us, then by all means state it.  To ridicule our dead friends, neighbors, and family is beyond the pale.

You are an immature, poor example of one who has trouble looking at himself in the mirror every morning and a complete fucking waste of oxygen.

Oh...and for what it's worth...I'll just bet you never picked up a rifle to defend your country...did you?  I suspect that you are really just a small-penised, pimply-face, never laid, teenager still living with Mommy...is that about right?

Take your shit elsewhere...

Wow! You don't even know how correct you are!

hospital=oil
heat=oil
goin' to work=oil
clothes/shoes=oil
food=oil

Even the crunchy folks on this board do not producr 100% of their own goods and services.  The whole world has an interdependance on oil.  I bet even you would lose your job if we could no longer get oil.  Forget goin' to the hospital:

autoclave=oil
IV bags=oil
lights=oil
no infection=oil
drugs/anesthetic=oil

How come people find this so difficult to understand?
If gas was $10 per gallon, who here would lose their job?

Fighting "for oil" is not a bad thing. It is a means not an extreme.  It is the means by which folks are now more healthy than ever before.
