I'm watching Equilibrium here on my second monitor, this movie seems like an arfcom classic. Full of tin foil hatting, big brother gov, nazi, and commie parallels everywhere. Anyone else seen this shit. I never heard of it till today.

I aint no chick, but he's a pretty good and entertaining actor. He and Edward Norton are pretty bad ass in most movies.

I have it as well.  Great movie, although the ending is too rushed.

I didn't mean in the "oh he's dreaaaaaamy" kind of way.  He kicks ass in that movie.

Funny you say that, Edward Norton is my favorite actor.

Yes, this was a really good movie. Too bad it didn't get more play in the theaters.

holy fuck, that gun fu shit is pretty cool looking... I'd like to see a rangeofficer's reaction to someone practicing that. Better yet, star wars kid trying it out.

When I started watching it the first time, the premise seemed pretty retarded - but the film really grew on me, and by the end of it I really liked it.  Feels a little like Fahrenheit 451, Gattaca, and some other movies rolled together, with lots of violence added.

Meh, it was mediocre.

The whole "bullet karma" thing and the omnipresence of "katanas" were both stupid. If they had tried to stay away from the whole "look-at-me-I'm-a-ninja-from-the-Matrix-in-a-cheesy-action-flick" feeling, it could have been good.

I just watched it again last night.

I really like this movie, and agree that Christian Bale is a badass actor.  That being said, I have noticed some regular Arfcom topics in it:

Fascist .gov
Revolutionaries
JBT's (they even kill dogs, kick down doors, kidnap citizens, and shoot people for posession of contraband)
Omnipresent surveillance by .gov (cameras, JBT's, etc.)
.gov training your kids to narc on you
Concealed carry
Swords/Kung-Fu
Mood-altering drugs
Hidden rooms
Search and seizure
"CQB"
Using your gun as a blunt object
High-capacity magazines
Machineguns

Anyone notice any others?

I heard great things about it here and rented it based on that. I got about a half hour in and turned it off. It was all about style and really thin on story.

How can you say it's thin on story when you only watched a half an hour of it?

Busted.

I thought it was cliched and unoriginal and the "gunkata" nonsense was thoroughly retarded.

This movie was made before the matrix.

Nope, but you were only off by three years.

The Matrix 1999
Equilibrium 2002

I thought the movie was OK, but the gun-kata was LAME.
