How do you guys store your ammo?
I just use ammo cans with dessicant and they sit in my "gun" closet.
Someone said I should take it out of the cardboard boxes? I never heard of this.

Most of mine is either on stripper clips or loose packed in ammo cans

I keep mine locked in fireproof gun safe (liberty).  In whatever original packaging I bought it in.

If there were ever a fire in my home - would that be enough to protect the family - standing outside of the house for example?

I have a very nice safe - something like 1.5 hours + at full temp etc.  thanks

I've thought about getting a fireproof safe also, just in case. Hell they are cheap enough at Home Depot they're just friggen heavy

Unconfined ammo in a fire does not shoot off like in the movies. It pops individually and basically the bullet pushes from the case. Any projectiles are of low velocity and of no danger to firefighters in their standard turnout gear. They certainly would not be a danger to anyone outside the house.

ETA "unconfined".
