Here are some pics of my dads old SP1.

Original 3X Colt scope with original scope covers. Slab Side A1 upper
Isn't she a beauty. Not very many rounds through it, by brother and I shot it back in the 80's but not a whole lot. It is still in very good shape.

This is the way the AR15 was intended to be. Lightweight and simple.

Very cool....I have never seen "leather" scope covers before. Is this what they used to be made out of?
