Guys, if im not mistaken the song im referring to is not the Garry Owen, but rather a 60s rock song...

You're talking about at the beginning when they found out they were shipping out.  It was the song before Mel went and slow danced with the wife?
Can't remember what song it was either but it wasnt the "garry owen"  
You could always go to a record store and check out the soundtrack.

I went thru all the soundtrack songs yesterday, this particular song wasnt there for some reason.

I haven't seen the movie yet so, considering the time frame, I was expecting the subject song to be some kind of classic rock number.  I was surprised when I looked at the soundtract listing that none of the song were Vietnam era R&R.
