Just a reminder. Everyone get out and buy some Ammo. I plan on buying a few hundred rounds. [:D] KC

Wish this was on a weekend. I feel they will lose alot of people buying since it is on a weekday. I'd probably head to walmart and pickup some more 9mm, but I have no chance tomorrow. Besides, I can't afford much more after the 5k plus rounds I purchased last week. [:D]

Please buy 100 rds of .22 from some place other than your favorite gunshop. Buy from a WalMart, K-Mart or the like. This is to send a message to them. Support your local gunshop as well but tomorrow vote with your purchases at those that don't realize how many of us are out there. thanks, dave

I think I will buy some Green & Gold .308 Core-Lokt in 180 grain. Also some more .223. Hopefully my dealer has some Lake City in stock.

I need some more 9mm for target practice this week... Down to 1/2 box left over from last time... Of K-mart, Wal-Mart, and other major retailers, who gets closest to the $5-6/box range for 9mm FMJ (I don't usually get ammo there, and they are to 'politically correct' to advertise ammo prices on their websites)?

Wal-Mart has WW white box 9MM for $5.96 50rds, and $10.96 for 100rds

I think that I'll go on the way to work. If anyone asks, I'll just say, "It's time to bag some bad guys. They're in season, after all." Very frequently, someone asks me if am a LEO. I'm not. And, I don't play one on TV. Lager, -sgt_seti

Great idea about buying at K-Mart or WalMart, with the exception that I wouldn't piss in K-Mart's collective ears if their tiny tiny brains were on fire. Wally World and a local gunshop will get my money!
Link Posted: 11/19/2002 4:03:38 AM EST
I made my presence known at Wally World @ 4am this morning... Just had to have 2 boxes of 223. They were almost out, wanted Win white box but all they had left was 4 boxes of UMC 55gr. Had to get a assistant manager as no one works the counter in "sporting" goods until after 6 am. Was then escorted to the cashier to finalize my ammo purchase. Was waiting for someone to say something about "223" but none cared. I almost wanted so say: "AS SEEN ON TV" Anyway, these are going in the gift box... I will give them to first time AR owners when they buy there first (of many) rifle.

I did it on the way in as I planned. Picked up a brick of .22 LR and a box of Win 9mm from Wallie World. It took 10 minutes for them to get the key. There were two people in sporting goods by that 0700, a lady and an older gentleman. He found the key, opened the case, told me that I could pay for it up front, and to have a nice day. The lady almost looked surprised that I was only pulling out the two boxes. I told her that it would get me started. The cashier apparently didn't care about the "For a pistol?" query from the machine and punched no without asking. I actually liked the lack of attitude that so many of you guys seem to observe. But, maybe it's because I'm in TEXAS! Lager, -sgt_seti

BRAINFART! I was going to take my .45 to the indoor range and run 100 rounds of range ammo through it at lunch, but I left my shooting bag at home! D'OH! Guess I'll just go pick up 100 rounds of .223 instead.

don't for get to send this to your reps!! November 19, 2002 Dear Representative: Today, November 19, is National Ammo Day. You won’t find mention of it on an official U.S. Calendar. You won’t find it in the Congressional record either. It isn’t sponsored or underwritten by any company, lobbying group, organization, or cause. Today, November 19 is a day started by The People of the United States, for The People of the United States. Today is the first annual celebration of our Right To Keep and Bear Arms. We’re celebrating that right by purchasing ammunition, by contacting our representatives, or by contributing our time, energy, or money to support organizations that work to protect our unalienable rights. Today, hundreds of thousands of law-abiding citizens will go to a legal business and buy a legal product. They do this to show their commitment and their support for an industry that provides them with the tools "necessary to the security of a free State." Not only is the product they are purchasing legal, its uninfringed purchase is guaranteed by the most cherished of U.S. documents, the Bill of Rights. National Ammo Day is a reminder to all that Liberty is our most precious possession and we stand ready to defend it. There are over 200 million guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens, safely guarded in approximately 75 millions homes. Today, millions and millions of rounds of ammunition will find its way into the safes, closets, and drawers of ordinary American citizens, who by their readiness to arms will guarantee that this generation, and future generations, will live in a state of liberty. As you have taken a solemn vow to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, we are certain that you will protect our liberties and take no action that would undermine or challenge the Second Amendment. Today the people have spoken with a peaceful message and a show of support, with their actions, their words, and their hard-earned dollars. I hope you hear them, loud and clear. Sincerely, Mr. & Mrs. Kim du Toit

Got 500 16ga and 500 20ga this afternoon. The lady at the checkout looked at me funny and said something like "no one needs that much". I told her that I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Also bought 1000 .22lr

Some of you know that I fly the local traffic watch radio/TV guy Bob Peters. For you Boise area folks that is KQFC 97.9FM and KBOI 670AM. This morning I got him to announce that it was national ammo day and all red blooded americans were to purchase 100rds...this was during the morning commute! KBOI is a 50,000watt station heard from Oregon to Wyoming to Utah! Maybe we will get a bump! Planerench out.

Well, my cash supplies are fairly low, as usual, but I did pick up a box of 9mm Hyrda-Shocks. I have enough practice ammo to last a while (well, to last me a while), but I didn't have enough hollowpoint to fill 2 clinton mags and the chamber. I'll do my part, even if it's only 20 rounds.

1000 rds of 9mm. Now I'm off to Academy to see what they have I need. Can't wait til Nat'l Class III day. [:D]
Link Posted: 11/19/2002 1:06:16 PM EST
Academy has CCI Blazer 9mm for $3.99/box (50 rd) Walmart sells this same ammo for around $6 per box. Some Oshman's also have the $3.99 price! My Colt 9mm AR eats this stuff with no problems!
Link Posted: 11/19/2002 1:34:26 PM EST
It's terrific to see over 400,000rds so far on the ammo day web site - but it's totally appalling that there have only been 484 submissions so far! That means each of these people is buying on average 826rds today. And that means most gun owners are either ignorant of ammo day, which in and of itself says nothing good about those of us who knew about it and didn't speak up enough, or just people who don't really care two hoots about their rights. It amazes me to hear a few people actually protesting that they "can't afford it" or that they "can't buy ammo today." .22LR is a buck a box (or less), and if you can't afford two bucks for 100rds of .22LR, then what the hell are you doing online when you should be out making some money?! :) And for those of you who "can't buy ammo today" - it's called mail order. It's an amazing thing, I go to the web site, I punch in some numbers, and in a few days my ammo arrives. It took me all of a minute to order 1k of 5.45x39 from Sportsman's Guide web site today (use coupon code SPG670 to get $10 off $50 or more, which on a $50 order means essentially free shipping!). I am in serious debt right now and without a day job, and *I* managed to buy some ammo. What's your excuse? :) Think about it like this - if you can't afford to spend a little money and take a little time now, I guess you just answered the question of whether you're willing to fight for your rights. A guy who won't spend a few bucks and a few minutes sure isn't somebody who's gonna put his life on the line for the 2nd Amendment!
