Jorge Avino of the Army's 10th Mountain Division carves the body count March 9 that his mortar team chalked up on a rock in eastern Afghanistan. Team members said they killed more than 40 al-Qaida and Taliban soldiers, hit 12 vehicles and destroyed a mortar unit.
