borrowed from camshaft @assaultweb:

of course this is far from scientific or conclusive, its just for fun.

take an inventory of your firearms. then assign points as follows:

1 point for each rimfire you own, rifle and pistol.

2 points for each centerfire pistol, blackpowder, muzzleloader, and "sporting shotgun"

3 points for pistol caliber carbines, combat shotguns, and bolt action centerfires

4 points for each semi-auto centerfire

5 points for each NFA and .50bmg weapons

10 points for each 1000 rounds of ammo you have on hand.

20 points if you reload.

divide total by your age.

everyone post their final score.

474.6 points in ammo

507.6 Grand total

OK, on guns, lose points on ammo. I would balance the test more to guns than ammo, us shooters tend to run low by early falll and restock up in the winter.

Wow - How do you define "on hand" I am signed for and have readily available over 37,000 rounds of 5.56 mm (Ball and tracer) unlinked, plus an additional . I have an additinal 32,800 linked for the M249. To be fair, I won't include my 40mm or hand grenades, but I will include .50 BMG and 9mm, since these are all "small arms" ammo.

OK, so that gives me 72,865. (This is my UBL for a 220 person company. The scary thing is, it aint much more than fight4your rights seems to have IN HIS HOME!!!)

Counitng only the guns I OWN (back in the good ol' US of A), I believe that gives my 32 points (it would be wholly unfair to use my arms room - besides, I don't "own" those).

OK, now 72 + 32 = 104.

Divide by 26, = 4.00

A perfect GPA.

Even with the resources of a forward deployed combat UBL, I still come nowhere near some of you guys. That is scary. [:)]

If I were to use my arms room?

1,515 + 72 (this is not counting M203s or Mk 19s or their ammo)/26.

61.03 - read 'em and weep, SteyrAUG!!

4 and you should count your .22 lr. It is the most common round used for covert assasinations, suppresed off course. OOPS did I just say that?    [shock]

Umm, yeah.  Bear in mind that 18,750 of that .22LR.

Please remember that I'm in Maryland, behind enemy lines.  When the next revolution occurs, you guys marching on Washington DC will need some resupply when you get here.  Swing by and pick me up!

Adding hicap mags to the scoring would be fun too.

Hmm only a 6, I really think someone ought to tilt this poll more toward the firearms though.

6 Pts Rimfire
24 Pts Centerfire Semi-Auto
6 Pts Combat Shotgun/Bolt Action Rifle
16 Pts Centerfire Pistol/Sporting Shotgun

52 Pts in Guns
20 Pts for Reloading
90 Pts for Ammo

Also the poll should give you a little something for each caliber you reload or if you reload for both rifle and pistol, or if you own more than 1 reloading press, what about a gun safe, seems that should be worth 20 pts.

?????

Uh huh ... but what is the definition of gun owner on this poll - firearms enthusiast or ammo collector?

Someone who buys a .22 and 100k rounds of ammo outranks someone who owns a slew of firearms and only 10k to 20k rounds of ammo?

Note:  Should probably be a caviat ... if you don't have ammo for it you can't count it.
