Features cost, folks. Its not magical- real servers cost real money, and the more features the more money.
Goatboy has created a new class of membership (or 2...) and for a [b]WHOLE $20. A YEAR[/b] you too can have the goodies that make using this resource efficient. (Thats about $1.66 a month by the way...) [:D]

Yep that's right, you now have to pay for basic features that were always there. Imagine how poor my spelling is gonna be without the damn spell check.. :) By the way, was the spell checker provided via another server on the web? Or, was it part of the ar15.com servers?

Of course, any other message board I visit doesn't require 'money' to allow you to search.

Geez, the Avilas give us a place to come and discuss an interest, and you guys flip when they have to make concessions to pay the bills.

Yeah, other sites don't require a paid membership to access certain features...yet.  But, they're not nearly as large as arfcom, are they?

Believe me, I was a mod on another gun forum for awhile, and paid membership was discussed frequently.  Somebody has to pay the bills, and I'd bet that the Avilas aren't making a profit on this site.

Complain all you want to about the missing "free" features, but I'll be joining as soon as my screwed up financial situation allows it, and not for the search function, either.

I'm just glad they've been willing to keep the site up so we have a place to hang out.

I'll be joining as soon as the credit card charge feature is set up. I don't trust PayPal and I don't write checks unless absolutely necessary.

I think the best and quickest answer is to paypal your $20.00 bucks on over to Goatboy now so you don't forget and have have to worry about it. We could talk long term marketing all day long but Goaty has bills to pay and he has stated his goal of returning these features to the public as soon as he has reduced costs and increased revenue. Surely a College Business Executive could figure that out, not to mention being able to afford it on a College Business Executive salary.

I'm glad that y'all have established the bronze and platinium memberships. My gold is about to run out, and after the holidays, I just can't spare the money for a renewal on the gold level. I love all the features and am happy to send my $20.00.
