Local news says that the only "offical" air traffic are a few f16's flying around the Valley out of Luke AFB

I see em'

aside from the odd silence of no commercial traffic I for one am glad to watch their navigation lights amongst the stars

just got home from work... as an aircraft mech for a major airline , yes i did watch the skies... and i cried... not for what happened today but what the sheeple are going to make into law in the morning.
we took our airplanes apart and put them back together nothing found... must be some other evil we should outlaw... maybe it is freedom... lets outlaw it!

I was walking through the park today on my way home(was kinda paranoid about avoiding public transportation), and heard and watched the planes going overhead.
It was kinda comforting, given what happened this morning.
But then I got that tingling in the back of my head.
The last time I've seen aircraft regular patterns over a city was in Shanghai - smack in the middle of a police state.
It's nice to hear the sound of freedom when the biggest thing on your mind is that big dust cloud downtown, but i hope to dear god it's not gonna stay.

Oh, the news also said that tanker aircraft are flying around. These are being used to fuel the f-16's and also fuel other military aircraft passing through Arizona.

One thing's for sure, you will never look at a flying airliner the same again.

I think it is wierd to be in a urban area, look up in the sky, and not see anything flying.

I think that it is kinda peaceful in an odd sort of way. It's like going into the mountains and seeing the stars in a way that you've never seen them before.

It is now 0100, and I have heard 3 jets fly over the L.A. Calif. area heading west.

I heard and saw Jets flying over my house as well. Here in Orange County.

I saw nothing at all in the sky last night.

I took my 3 daughters outside and showed them
the oddity of a sky without contrails.  I tried
to explain  what it meant - and that I had
never seen a sky so empty.  It was comforting
but ominous.......

I'll never forget that.

Yeah. Sometime past 4:00 AM something REALLY BIG went over my house. I was in the basement and ending up going outside. The sound was very loud and just echoing off the ground. We have a few guard jets that fly down to detroit and back weekly to train/patrol but this seemed different. Perhaps they were just flying lower than usual? I could hear/feel it in the basement with the TV up real loud which has NEVER happened before.

I turned on my portable handheld aviation transmitter I take as a back up in the cockpit last night and all frequencies were silent.

I saw only one jet at maybe FL20 or 30 eastbound running its nav lights and strobes.

That was the oddest and alone feelings I've had in a long, long time. Sort of a "Day the Earth Stood Still".

On a normal morning I hear the first civilian aircraft coming in to land at Lindbergh Field at about 4:20 AM.  The silence this morning is spooky.

I can hear a lot of engines spinning up, and some aircraft arriving at and departing from North Island NAS.

Those fighters are extremely loud-louder than many commercial full size jets.  Heard one up here even-looked all over for it but could not see it.

I live about 2½ hrs. (driving time) west of Denver. We always have planes overhead.

It was rather peaceful and serene without the planes. It just wasn't right.

I did spot the International Space Station at 5:36 local time though. [8D]

In Dayton, last afternoon, the sonic boom from some fighters leaving Wright Patt AF base caused quite a few people to leave their homes and wonder what it was.   I will admit, I went out and was scanning the horizion for smoke until I heard the news state that it was a sonic boom.

... again tonight, no air traffic in the city.

Hoi Kuiper,

I've been seeing planes from Schiphol ever since the attack. Schiphol never closed down.

Cheers,

Not over the skies in Zaanstad Bollocks, not yesterday afternoon and not this night.
