Sign up for the team tryouts.

We need experienced players that can play on a weekly basis, as we're going to try to field the same 8 players at every match with a few alternate backup players.

We need players that can and will follow Team Captain strategies and orders. Most importantly, we need TEAM PLAYERS.

Tournament pre-season starts Feb 20th!

Tournament INFO

Tournament Rules

The NEW 1.2 patch (to come out soon Feb 14th?), will eliminate the Tournament DD, BH, and C4 chucking.

Post if your interested in trying out for AR15.com part II.

My first post stated that I was in.  But I changed it when I thought that I was not welcome because my playing ability is below par.

I play the game because I enjoy it.  I may not be the best player in the clan but I have fun playing and I am getting better.  It just pissed me off that someone would say "I would be in if we can get our good players to commit to it".  Does it matter?  As long as we can get a full team together, that's all that matters.

At the same time it would good to enter a tourny with the "best" players if you want to win.. correct? Not saying that other players aren't welcome... some people play better than others.. some people work together better... etc.

Exactly.  I wasn't trying to imply that anyone wasn't "up to par"  Being such a large clan that takes any ar15 member means we have a very wide range of 'skill' levels.  The up-side to that is we all get to play and have fun together.

The downside is when we compete in real matches against other clans we are at a huge disadvantage.  They have try-outs and requirements for joining.  Most wouldn't even look at players who have a frag rate below 1 or 1.5, while we have a lot of players who are down below 1.
This was made evident in our last tourny where we didn't win a single match and had people running all over the place doing random things.

Myself, and I know at least a few others, aren't going to put the time in again if we don't have a chance to win.  Nothing against anyone, I enjoy playing with everyone a lot, but if we are going to go at another tourney we need to put our best team together, just like all the other clans are going to do.

You both are right.  I'm sorry for the snap judgement.  Guess I picked the wrong time to quit hookers and blow smoking.

I will be available as a filler is an extra player is needed and I am not working.

does fragrate really matter? my fragrate sucks, but  from the scores you've all seen me get would i be good enough for a real team? ps now that we have a server  it would behoove the team that gets together to work in squads together as much as possible every night possible!!

I know we're all tryng to have fun. But, it isn't fun loosing all the matches.

It seemed we lost a few players interests at the last Tournament, as we weren't playing as a 'Team' and loosing constantly. When we definitely had the skills to defeat our opponents. What we lack was some teamwork and maybe some leadership.

Ok, we do need to try to field the best team we can.

That was one the problems we had in the last tournament. We were taking any ARFcommer BF2 players into the AR15 tournament team. Because, we couldn't get the same 'TEAM' to play consistantly together. We had a different 'TEAM" roster play at every match. That didn't help us when we were playing against opponents that played together all the time as a TEAM.

A match isn't the time to find a way to work together for the first time.

I APPRECIATE everyone's effort and participation in the last Tournament. But, we need to learn from our mistakes and move forward.

So, I guess we will have some type of tryout. We will also vote for Team Captain and Co-Captain.

Since, time is short.. we may have to also go with established player stats.

For newer players that haven't yet built up some stats, we will have tryout matches to find out your place on the Roster.

We will still need alternate players, if we come up a player short during a match. I know being an Alternate won't be fun, but it'll help the Team succeed.

But, we should try to field the SAME TEAM at every match. We need reliable skilled players that can play a match every week.

So when are we going to start preparing?  When are tryouts?  I know I'm not in the top 8 and I'll be the first to say it but I'd like to give it a shot.  I could always be an alternate if neededhug.gif.

That is why I pulled out of the last tourney. I'm used to playing with people with definite strategies and putting them in action. We'd "talk" the game, but when the game started.. it all fell part.

I guess we need to nominate a Team Captain first.

I don't want to volunteer as Captain, unless I'm voted as one. I think we need new leadership for this team.

I think we'll wait until the end of the day to nominate a Captain and Co-Captain. We'll vote on it tomorrow? We don't have much time to screw around with this.

I agree considering the tournament starts the 20th.  I wasn't around for the first tournament so I don't know what went on, but we should all start playing religiously until this thing starts up.  Any ideas on strategies and such??

Offensively we are very strong. Defense is what we lacked in the last tourney. Playing defense can be boring, but needs to be done to survive in a tourney.

With regular online play we're always attacking and capping flags. As we really didn't care if we lost a flag, as we would just go back and recapture it later.

But in a Tournament, where there will only be 3-4 flags. We were always going after flags we didn't have and leaving flags we just captured weakly defended (if they were even defended at all). We got shut out (lost all the flags) a lot of the time, when we were LEADING in points (kicking arse). They'd surprise us and would cap our main flags and guys wouldn't be able to spawn and they would eventually pick us off one by one.

Along with lack of strategy or planning. But, it was hard to have a strategy or plan, when a team was put loosely together 2 minutes before a match started.

We also need an unranked 16 player server to practice/scrimmage on. The BRD server is nice, but won't work for a tournament setup. A practice server shouldn't cost us much.

This is exactly the reason I haven't played on the ARFCOM server much lately (that, and I seem to get quite a bit of lag on it).  When I play, I really like teamwork.  I try to find squads that use comms, have good leaders, come up with plans, and execute them.  While it is fun just running around solo on a map while BSing on TS, I often prefer more serious play.  With more team play, I would definitely play with the clan on a more regular basis.

I really only play on 64 player servers.  I can literally count on one hand the number of times I have played on something less than 64 player servers, so I haven't played with most of you.

Fragrate in BF2 means NOTHING because it's a compilation from the start of your BF2 "career" to the current time.  If you wanted it to be most accurate, you would need to look at progression, or better yet, look at the last 10 hours played by an individual.  If you find a BF2 stats site that can do that, I'd be very curious to see it.

Furthermore, there are players who sacrifice their point score (I am one) for the betterment of the squad and team.  For example, I often play as a squad leader and like to move deep into enemy territory when I have a full squad.  I then hide and manuever (when I hear that Arti go off) to keep a spawn point close for my teammates so they can take a base.  This means that I get very little kills and points, but I provide an invaluable asset to my squad and team, enabling them to take control points that they wouldn't normally capture with a SL who's only concerned about points.  I also play to keep commander assets out of commission.  Doing so provides very little points, but it saves the team a lot of tickets that would be used by enemy Arti kills and UAV/Scanner detections.  You win, not by scoring the most points, but by allowing the other team to get less kills and hold less points on the map.  There are very few squad leaders who are willing to play this way.  If you find a team with 2-3 squad leaders who do this, and a decent commander, victory is almost assured.

The most constraining portion is that a lot of us are spread all over the US.  Some of us have families which can make it difficult to plan, especially given the last-minute notices from the previous games.

It definately matters in matches.  In every match we lost the other team all had positive FRs while all but the top 2 or 3 players on our side had bad, bad negative rates.  There were some rounds where our bottom two people were going like 0-15...impossible to win with scores like that.

When it comes down to it.. it is all about HOW THE TEAM WORKS TOGETHER. There are a few people in the clan that play on our servers and use TS (still some people come on the servers and don't use TS.. back to the point...) There are a few people that I've played with that actually work together as a team. Meaning they use the SL position as a jump point and select the right kits to compliment eachother.  When we played together we were able to move from flag to flag capturing them and defending them. With high kills and low deaths. A fire squad of 5-6 guys working together and sticking together can do wonders on any map in the game.

For example, saw a squad the other night with 5 guys in it.. all were Assault guys.. when I asked why some weren't another kit, "I'm getting my frag rate up"... I dropped out of that squad and started my own.

My point is that IF we worked as a TEAM better, we'd be pretty good. I don't give a shit about the following:
- The numbers of badges, ribbons or points you have
- The ranking of the "clan" or a single player on the team on some tracker
- The ranking of a player on the BRD server

ALL of that means shit unless you play as a team player. Simple as that. We as a clan lack it. We NEED to work on it if we want to win games in a tourny game.
