MARENGO, Ind. -- Indiana State Police have confirmed two minors were taken hostage in southern Indiana Wednesday night.

During a police press conference, a department spokesperson said events began with a home invasion in Mooresville, Ind. when a man came home and found a subject in his house. Police said the subject was armed and took the man hostage in his own pickup truck. Once in Crawford County, the man fled from his truck into the woods and the subject continued travelling police said.

Police said the man called 911 and a deputy spotted the subject at a gas station. Police said the subject fled, hit a police car and then, his vehicle disabled, stole a black pickup truck.

Police said the suspect collided with a cruiser on State Road 64 and jumped out of his vehicle, which had flat tires from police stop sticks.

Police said the subject then fled into a nearby house where he held two boys hostage. The boys were under the age of 16, police said, and two girls in the home escaped.

As of 7 p.m. Wednesday, police said the boys were unharmed.

Unfortunately I found out from my gf (she's from English) that the children that were/are taken hostage are her friend's siblings.  Apparently the guy tried taking a hostage in English, failed, drove to Sulphur where he turned around and went northbound back up 64 where he hit the spike strip and then proceeded to take the kids hostage.  What the hell is wrong with people?
