I think that's the Cobra that said it was going down and hit in the shoulder.

All that and then a 25¢ ak round takes out a $300,000 flir camera.

Boy. You'd think they'd figure out that if you get a near miss (from a bad guy's point of view) just stay put and play dead. If you move, they will shoot some more.

More than just the camera.  He said he was shot (bleeding) and that the aircraft was messed up.

They nailed that dude at 10:23.

What benefit does "black hot" have over "white hot" on FLIR?

I wonder how far away they were from the bad guy, and at what altitude. Lucky shooting or really good?

10:20 - First time I've seen a terrorist do a Spetznaz combat backflip from a bush into triple strand concertina wire.

Yeah, damn what a hit from a beltfed.  Hit about a 6 inch circle if I am recalling camera apertures.  Pretty much a golden set of BBs from they tali.  Glad that shitbird is dead now.

I was assigned to a downed aircraft recovery team (D.A.R.T) with the 1st INF DIV in Iraq in '04. I've seen a single AK round to equipment put a low flying 64 in the weeds.

I've also seen an Apache take a direct hit from an RPG to the wing joint right next to the transmission and it flew back to base.

Fucking magic bullet indeed.

AFAIK for eye relief; some things are easier to see in one color over the other. Switching between settings can help you see things your eyes might have glossed over or adjusted to.

I thought he was shaky on the dismount, but he nailed the landing!  I gave him 8.5 snackbars on the routine overall.

Now that makes total sense.   That would explain why the flip back and forth between the two.

Moving helicopters aren't exactly the most stable firing platforms for automatic weapons...

FLIR system is magnified.  You can tell by the time it takes from the bang bang noises to the impacts.  Dispersion over 500 feet from a moving vibrating helicopter is a mother fucker.  When they engage the recoiless rifles you can tell they are wicked close because the dispersion is really tight and the impacts are almost immediately after the ICS picks up the gun firing.

If the guys bounding were the same ones that took down the 2nd helo they probably were shooting at him with a belt fed.  You can see when they bound away that the guy is carry a big hot chunk of something.  bigger than an AK

Is "Cobra" an AH-1 or a call sign for one of the 64's?

That's an M230 firing, not a 20mm.

Damn, every round is like a grenade - are they shooting explosive rounds, or is the dust so bad that it just looks like it? No, on second thought, the dude at 10:23 is picked up and tossed onto the concertina wire like a rag doll. What hell is that?

Did they get the insurgent with the belt-fed after he shot the helicopter down?
Link Posted: 4/23/2013 12:37:34 PM EDT
WOW! First at the guy on the mountain trail that had his feet knocked out from under him, then at the guy that did the backflip into the concertina wire. Aloha snackbar!! Get some, haji!

Really sucks about the shot down 64 Glad no one was killed. Hope the pilot was able to set it down relatively easy.

Often times the helicopters are stupidly far away.
