"America is at that awkward stage. It’s too late to work within the
system, but too early to shoot the bastards.” ~ Claire Wolfe 1999
I figured that there may be some here who appreciate this quote.

It's never too early to shoot the bastards.

can we just begin with public flogging and the return of the stockade?

America is at that awkward stage between freedom and tyranny. Another Obama term and we'll clearly cross the line towards a dictatorship.

Hopefully those who want to start shooting can just get it over with so we don't have to put up with your blather any more.

Preferably without actually hurting anyone.

I've always loved Claire Wolfe. She wrote the screenplay for innocents betrayed... a masterful piece by the JPFO on how governments use guncontroll as a first step to genocide. A must see, and its available free on YouTube.

Read her book.  Enjoyed it.  Especially the bits about a decentralized, disorganized revolution.

It's an interesting and provocative quote.  I think I first read it in somebody's signature here.

Aren't we already shooting the bastards?  Oh... THOSE bastards?

Well I just watched most of Innocents betrayed, and WOW, show a Liberal Anti Gun person that , then ask em why guns are so bad.
The weapon has no soul, no conscious, they can be used for both good or bad, but when good folks cant have them then all the bad gets alot clearer don't it?

it was dusty in here at the end,

There's a difference between awkward and terminal.  My 13 year old niece is at an awkward stage.  My great uncle who is currently in hospice is at a terminal stage.  America has a lot more in common with the latter than the former.

Pick up your rifle and go outside.  If you're the only one there, it's too early.

I think it's at that stage of transforming from a world leader in just about everything to a middle tier (if we're lucky) nation in just about everything and yes it is awkward.

I was just mentioning to my father how I thought "Tar & Feathering" needs to be brought back into use

does that fit between "voting" and "shooting" on the force continuum?

12 years on, and we're still in that awkward stage.

She wrote a sequel:

So first was 100 Things
Then 179 Things

Now 100 more things.  I did not know that.  I'm working on a book myself somewhat similar.  I'll have to check the sequel out. Thank you for the 'heads up.'

Turns out the one I was referring to - '179 things' is the newest (2007).

However, I haven't read the one you suggested so I'll check it out.
