My buddy was in the bag for the BDM.
It was actually a decent pistol if you like DAO autos. I had a couple of the Star Firestars. Fun and well made but 8 shot 9mm boat anchors. (iirc there was a .40, too) |

Any love for the TEC-9?
Used to own a similar gun, the AA Arms/Kimel AP-9. Shot the bejesus out of it until something the plastic lower receiver broke. Sent it away to the mfg to have it fixed, they replaced the lower. Thinking if this happened again and if they went out of business I'd be screwed. So I sold it. They went out of business  |

I had a Grendel P-12, but it was a world class POS and I couldn't sell it quick enough. My favorite Grendel was my SRT-26 rifle in .308. After I sold it, one of my buddies who was a Grendel SRT collector, figured out mine was the last one to come off the production line.

I had one in .40 for awhile, and even used it as a carry gun from time-to-time. But, then, I fell in love with a Para-Ordnance Para-Companion C7/45 LDA, a love affair which lasted but a few years, until I discovered the Glock 19. |

Arcadia Machine & Tool (AMT) had several pistols. The Automag series that looked like modified 1911s. Chambered in .22mag, .30 carbine, and .50AE, The ones I have seen varied from fairly nice to looking like they were sand cast in a litter box.
Then AMT had the Lightning series of pistols and rifles. The pistol was a copy of the Ruger MKI and the rifle was a 10/22 copy. AMT then went out of business. Ram-Line made a polymer framed pistol that looked like a bastard child of the Ruger MKI. I have never seen one in real life. Also got t add the .45 Win Mag and 9mm Win Mag to the list of cartridges that failed. |

Benelli B-series handguns. Lever delayed blowback. B-76 pictured. They kind of died out in the '80's. Low capacity, high priced and apparent complexity killed them.
The lever lock. 
Internals are all chromed or stainless.

had a star ultrastar I got dirt cheap 20 years ago while living in kali,
but there was only one guy in the country that had parts; mags wern't cheap either, and for the size & only 7 round cap. seemed like a waste of space. the guy that had the parts in Ten. said the take down pin would fall out on it's own; it ran good, but sold it & never looked back. the two 9m's i regret selling were a Smith M-59 & a canidian browning I think that Star got me to stop buying stuff that had limited replacement parts. |

Had a P-88 20 years ago. It was a wee bit bulky, but I shot it better than any other handgun before or since. Well enough to put eyes, a smile, and earrings on a standard silhouette target @ 15yds . It wasn't just that it shot good groups, it was that I hit what I wanted to with it. My eyes were better then, but there was something special about that particular piece, because I'm generally pretty mediocre with a handgun.
The remorse over that episode, and same situation with a 3" Model 624, led to my current "never sell any guns that shoot straight" policy. Got the damned thing lightly used for about $300 under what they were going for at the time. Fuck. |

Which has/had NOTHING to do with their sales numbers. In fact, they go for well over their last retail prices these days on Gunbroker. An unfilred P7M13 will usually bring close to $3,000. Not "ask", SELL for. H&K dropped these models due to ever increasing production costs when compared to their newer USP line. H&K decided no one would pay $1,000 for a single stack 9mm, no matter how accurate it was/is. I owned a P7M8 for a couple of years, it was a massive POS.
Let's see if we can count the ways: - Mag thumb release manufactured by the same razor factory that makes Nissan auto parts (this is a semi-joke - ever worked on a Nissan in the engine bay? Anything more than changing the oil and you're getting cut up) - So-called "heat shield" wasn't; after +2-3 mags, you better have welding gloves on (slight exaggeration, but not by much) I have & carry this model. Never, EVER had a single issue with a sharp mag release. Never. Never had any issues with heat. Nor did I try to simulate making it shoot on a full auto cycle rate, which might explain the lack of heat on mine. - Could only shoot jacketed bullets, although plated would also work; supposedly no bare lead bullets due to the gas system. Even though I did and never had any problems Fail to see how this is an issue. Glock says not to shoot lead, the USP models say to not shoot lead & most folks know not to shoot LSWC out of a .357mag. Not to mention the amount of ammo offerings in 9mm that are LRN are quite slim. - I have big hands and the M8 felt like holding a rounded 2x4. The M13 was even worse. I have large hands as well. I wear 2XL or 3XL gloves & have never had an issue with shooting a P7 series model. So, yea, the H&K P7 = massive POS. Deal with it. Just because YOU think a model sucks doesn't make it so. There's a HUGE following for the P7 series as well as the HIGH resale value on these models. Argue all you want, empirical evidence shows how WRONG you are on the P7 series. Get over yourself.

Bob Cole isn't entirely wrong (although "incredibly moronic" may be a little too strong), I found out that the H&K P7 had been in production for 25 years and until 2007, far longer than I would have predicted/known/ and/or knew.
So, he's right, while I think the P7 is a POS, it probably doesn't belong in this list of handgun rejects list. I'll give you that. However, I still think the P7 I had was a massive POS for the reasons I gave earlier. But the history shows that that's a personal view. So be it.
