There is a teenager in my neighborhood who's friend drives one.

WTF kind of parents let their kid have a car (a) that has that kind of performance and (b) costs $80k.

Hope someone doesn't die for a lesson to be learned here.

Way over priced!

Yea MSRP is around 30grandish, the car is meant to go against the WRX and other sub compact sports cars.
This car was upgraded by HPA to show what kind of performance gains they can offer someone, not unlike a full stage Saleen Mustage which is over 50K or some of those special corvettes and vipers.

Are you are sure that teenager drives a heavily modified R32? that one that is linked isn't stock. I think they are around 30-35 stock (which is still BS to give to a teenager).

Way too much for a VW anyhow.

BFD. Give me 41K and I can stuff a 550hp 3.6L TT in my 986 and could run away from that thing all day long.

you couldnt pay me to take another VW after the experiences i had with my passat...

in my opinion, transmissions shouldnt go out at 80k miles...

It seems that in most cases, one can get more bang for the buck buying a car designed from the get-go to go like a bat outta hell than taking a quick car and upgrading it to get the desired performance...of course, a properly modified golf-looking VW has a stealth aspect an RS6 or a C6 doesn't have.... I guess if you have 80k to spend on a hatchback, you can probably afford to forgo bang for the buck to satisfy whatever desire an 80k golf satisfies.

P.S., the stock R32, from what I have seen looks like a hell of a performer and if I were in the market, I'd take a hrd look at one.

It's a VW Golf.

Period.

For LESS than 80k, you can build a vehicle (almost ANY vehicle) that will kick that VW's ass in every aspect. Too fucking much for a Volkswagen.

I would far rather drive a luxurious car than a fast car. Cloth seats, though, leather is unpleasant-feeling.

That's cute and all, but you know what happens around here about every weekend?

We lose a high school kid or two in cars that their parents bought for them, and usually it is too fast for their responsibility level.

Don't bring guns into it! There is no relationship.
