I am all for cheap and simple, but a sling is to a rifle as a holster is to a pistol. A good sling will make the rifle a much more useful weapon.

Why is the brass discolored like that, ive bought some like that for my Bushy in the past and i always wondered why it was like that.

The brass has been "annealed" or heated, to make it less brittle and less likely to split in the neck area.
