Full disclosure, so I don't have a bunch of info and this conversation was overheard in the gun section of Bass Pro, but I wonder if there's any truth to it?

Apparently Savage is going to jump into the AR market very soon. They're supposedly bringing out a standard carbine AR at first to get into the market and then later on some FUDD-tactical hunting AR's will come. The hunting AR introduction will feature a new cartridge which will be the .223 necked up to .25 caliber and might be called the ".250 Savage MSR".

I'm having trouble with the idea that Savage would get into such a crowded market. Not sure about another AR based cartridge either. I'm sure somebody has wildcatted that combination before, but why now? On the other hand, Savage does have some history with their .250-3000 cartridge and introducing a new cartridge would garner a lot of interest.

What say the hive: gun store B.S. or possible?

It needs to be relatively affordable or it will flop.

There's another thread active right now about Savage getting into the AR market in 2017 with a side charging AR.

Well they changed their log to a ugly pos, and it seems their bad decisions are following that.

I have been wanting a 6X45. I might buy a .250 Savage MSR instead since I already load .25 caliber cartridges.

Savage is coming out with an MSR (AR).  Patrick Kelly will be on their 3 gun team.

I read that the rifle was developed with Pat as part of the team.  I might have misread that he will be shooting for them in competition - I can't find where I read it now.  I didn't read anything about the Savage cartridge.

Interesting that Savage is indeed getting into the AR game. I can't believe there's any fruit left for the picking.

The cartridge interests me even more. If they could get numbers close to the old .250 Savage out of it, that would make for a cool kick around gun for coyote or even deer. I'm guessing a name like Savage getting involved might signal a big name ammo company making it a legit cartridge.

We'll see... Too bad someone from Savage can't chime in.

This may be a year or 2 late . The rule of no calibers until they are old enough to vote applies

So basically they're gonna pull a Remington and shit out an R15/R25 competitor?

Why not just standardize the 6x45? Bullet selection is much better....but I guess resurrecting some irrelevant name for nostalgia sake is important to someone.
