What think ye? I am getting a GSG-5 soon and wondered how effective .22lr would be for head shots. I can  have a ton of ammo and I think it would be useful for blasting others in the legs in order to let the zombies eat while I  run away.

ETA should I get a silencer for it? Can Zombies hear? (for you "its a suppressor nazis, the very first "suppressor" was called a silencer, who can argue with Hiram Maxim?)"

I figure if you can penetrate the skull, any brain trama "should" kill the zombie.  But I have yet to put this theory to the test.

It could work.  It just might.

Usually .22LRs aren't super reliable though, and most are a PIA to reload in a hurry.

I'd stick with the AR.

Well lots of ammo can be had for cheap. You could always shoot until you get them in the eyes.

.22lr offers excelent benifits against zombies.

can you name another type where you can run with 5000 rds and fire a weapon without trouble?

controled burst fire with 1 hand

low sound option at its best.

I hear if you wound a zombie, that takes 2 other zombies out of the fight...they feed on their dead...or is that metal eating spiders???

whatever...its a good option.

.22 = perfect for the slow moving night of living dead type zombie....not so much for the 28 days later turbo charged variety. You are going to want to stick with something along the lines of a 12 guage or an m1a for those.

As long as the .22 can penetrate a skull and cause trauma to the brain of the zombie it should be good enough. Plus ammo is light.

22lr..If that is what you have.
better than nothing

But I would go with a Ruger 10/22 with quality Hi-cap mags
and Hyper velocity ammo

having a can would be worth while when needed

As for those turbo charged man eaters.....

triple or quadruple tap...Stingers please

12 gauge.....

A saiga 12 that has been Tromix modified

Better yet
  an

AR....AK....in each hand

I think it depends....slow, dawn of the dead type zombies, yea it would probably be good.

I'd rather have a little more knock down power for any 28 days later types.....

+1 That looks like a very good introductory training pamphlet for the non-zombie-aware folks... I'd like to know where I can get a copy or 2 myself

IMO, you might want to go with something that has more power.  Depending on your distance/accuracy, you might not get a direct head shot.  As we all know, Zombies feel no pain, so unless your shot does some sort of incapacitation, the you'll be in trouble.
