They are good to go.  You don't need very high heat if you are used to using cheaper pans.  If you keep the heat down, stuff won't stick much either.

I've been using All-Clad for a few years now.  If you cook a lot and enjoy it they are a good investment.  If you don't cook at home a lot, they're a bit expensive.

Heat is distributed very evenly so no "hot" spots in the pots or pans.  Also, they can be placed in the oven which is nice.  Very solid construction, buy them and you'll never replace them.  My vote is "buy".

We have been using a set of those we bought from Costco (under the Kirkland" brand) great pans. However the last couple of years we have gone back to cast iron.

I just go to the local kitchen supply store...as in the place restaurants buy their equipment from.
