They make movies without guns? I thought they called those "chick flicks".
Pfft, almost every movie involves guns. I just did ones that werent BASED on guns. And if you want to say that, then take off Ace Ventura and Caddyshack, since there are guns in those. And Tommy Boy/Black sheep, with the cop and the nitrous'd cop car. |

Brazil
A river runs through it Romancing the Stone- (iffy due to some gun content) Fast Times Lonesome Dove - (iffy due to some gun content) |
LOTS OF GUNS in National Lampoons Vacation! Remember when they're at Wally World, and Chevy had John Candy hostage with a pelet gun. Then moments later an entire SWAT team draws down on them. |
I just saw an AWESOME NON-Gun movie this weekend.
- The Wedding Crashers. |
oh, forgot fight club.... but it has a scene with a pistol- the 7-11 clerk that wan't to be a vetrinarian(sp??) |
i don't think i'm understanding the question... by "favorite gunless movies", are you asking what my favorite movies are when i'm not packing...? that must be it. |
1. Animal House
2. National Lampoons Vacation 3. Caddyshack 4. Young Frankenstein 5. Alien 6. Sorcerer 7. American History X 8. Mulholland Falls 9. LA Confidential 10. Evil Dead |
Edward Norton also shoots himself in the mouth at the end of the movie with some sort of Smith and Wesson Auto.
John Goodman has a 1911 in The Big Lebowski. |
5.) Shawshank Redemption
4.) Almost Famous 3.) Game of Death 2.) The Big Lebowski 1.) Fight Club/Memento/American Beauty (although, in all three of these, someone gets shot in the head... strange) |
I'm guessing you missed the first 10 minutes of both of these movies. I mean, god, AHX has the infamous "curb stomp" in it. |
1. Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings series
2. Sen to Chihiro no kamakushi (Spirited Away) 3. Monty Python's The Life of Brian 4. House of Flying Daggers 5. Gladiator There was a lot of stuff that I wanted to do but couldn't, like Donnie Darko (Donnie shoots the kid who runs over his girlfriend), Pirates of the Carribean (for obvious reasons), The Godfather (again, for obvious reasons), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (del Toro's character has a revolver), Twelve Monkeys, Brazil (the soldiers marching down the steps with guns while the carriage falls over), Fight Club (the aforementioned clerk, the gun that the narrator steals from the cops and uses several times), etc. Now, for my personal top movies: 1. Equilibrium 2. Fight Club 3. The Matrix series 4. Pirates of the Carribean 5. Dr. Strangelove PS Methinks gaspain likes mindfuck movies. |
Well, let's see. Someone mentioned the Shawshank Redemption, but at least 2 people are killed by guns in that one. The Blue's Brothers has Carrie Fisher blasting away with an M16. The Big Lebowski had a gun in it, so I will go with movies about time periods before guns existed, such as Gladiator (with asshole Russel Crowe) and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. And I think that ET ( the extra testical) was a joke first made famous by The Unkown Comic (remember that jackass with the bag over his head?). sgtar15's pick of Deep Throat is a also a good bet for no guns unless you consider the " this is my rifle and this is my gun" analogy, then it has a cannon in it.
Umm, there were tons of people with guns. |
1. A Christmas Story (Red Rider BB Gun does not count, does it?)
2. IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE 3. MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON 4. 5. I'm gonna have to work on this a bit... |
I cannot believe anyone has not yet mentioned the following:
The Princess Bride Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure Better off Dead The Phantom of the Opera Psycho I went to great lengths to think of all five of these, but the first two were easy. -Ben |
blazing saddles (ok, some guns, damn) ok, cancel it, but still a damn good movie
dogma jay and silent bob, (but there is some guns) exorcist office space clerks txl |
Shit. If your going to be a stickler for no guns at all, then my new 5 would be 1. Ben Hur 2. The Quiet Man 3. Caddyshack 4. Office Space 5. The Philadelphia Story Edited for stupidity once again. |
I see the words.... they just don't make sense. |
10 commandments
charlie and the chocolate factory (origional) gladiator ben-hur candleshoe |
Wrong. Awsome movie, but they went dove hunting and Vince Vaughn got shot in the ASS!! |
Dang, finding movies I like without guns or military themes in them is tough. I am assuming swordplay, police work, or martial arts knocks a movie off the list. You pretty much have to stick to comedies and dramas, and even there... Even otherwise non-violent SciFi usually has at least one gun scene (for example, Gattica). OK, not in any particular order, ones I like myself, not just appeasing the wife:
(1) Joe vs the Volcano (2) Beautiful Girls (3) Office Space (4) A River Runs Through It (5) Mystery Alaska Honorable Mention: Caddyshack (1st half), Animal House, Happy Gilmour, Waterboy, 2001 Space Odysey. As these are the only other movies I could think of other than chick flicks that have no guns/miltary, they make the list. |
And the opening scene with a gun in his mouth. It's a Beretta 92, IIRC. |
1. Blow
2. A Beautiful Mind 3. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas 4. Happy Gilmore 5. Road Trip |
had to sneak that one in there to see if anyone was paying attention |
ET - The Director's Cut
That's all! Damit, even that movie with talking pig has a gun in it. |
OK guess I have to have a new list....
1) Office Space 2) Clerks 3) Ferris Bueler's day off 4) Breakfast Club 5) Rocky |
You say there's guns in J&SB, but not Dogma? Don't you remember the Mac-10 usage in Dogma? The scene outside the church? |
