How do you keep your bedside/nightstand gun?
Link Posted: 1/16/2015 7:14:00 PM EST
Condition zero - like all my guns
Link Posted: 1/16/2015 7:14:19 PM EST
S&W Model 66 loaded with 38 Special +P HPs. Sits on a shelf on the nightstand. All the kiddies have flown the coop, so no one to mess with it.

Defcon 1- A home invasion would be a wet dream

Typically I have my 1911 next to my bed in my holster. Mag in the gun, chambered, and on safe just like I carry it. If the 1911 isn't there for some reason my Sig P226 also floats around the house between my gun room and nightstand round in the chamber, mag in the gun and decocked. Any gun I rely on for defense has a round chambered except my AR in my pickup since I could get knocked for having a round in the chamber while hunting.

My SP2022 which is currently my bedside gun:

I use any number of Sigs and even a 1911 at various times for the bedside gun and whichever it is, it wears a suppressor.

I thought quick access safes would be more common.

Mine stays on the nightstand in it's holster- mag in, un-chambered. Wife's is the same on the opposite side (but hidden better as she does not carry and access daily)

I have a habit of - when I am not in immediate control of a gun I want it unloaded, or at least un-chambered. When I get undressed the gun comes off and gets cleared. I guess It goes back a little to having kids, but I also have this thought that I could put my hand on it while dreaming or something. Also, figure, if home invader get's in the bedroom (unarmed) and gets to my gun before me I am the only one that knows it's unloaded. But, ideally I would hear them entering and have plenty of time to chamber.

Just what I think, not trying to convince anyone either way. Would like to hear the thoughts of others.

Two bedside guns: G19 and AR.

G19: mag in, round chambered
AR: mag in, empty chamber

I sleep in my boots and a gunbelt. That's it. Sometimes in the winter I'll wear black socks.

Currahee, My wife and I have no children in our house and generally children don't come to our house expect on the rare occasion, That is why all my guns are loaded in the house, I know it's statistically very unlikely to be home invaded but why chance fate. If we had children in the house then I would do things differently then I currently do them, When my nephew or niece comes over all the guns go into the safe and it gets locked minus the one I have one me

AR15 loaded, safety on. Aimpoint is always on. On my desk is a Glock 20, loaded, in a holster.
Link Posted: 1/16/2015 7:49:14 PM EST
Mag in chambered in a small Pelican in top drawer of dresser. My kids (1 and 3) don't have the height to get it or hand strength to open the Pelican, yet. Have one of those fancy fingertip mini safes on order cause I don't trust the little bastards.

Round chambered, slack in trigger taken up, pointed at door.

Actually quick access safe, cause kids.

AR15 next to me, mag in the nightstand because small kids. G19 in my sock drawer loaded, unchambered.

I expect my 2 yippy dachshunds to be my living alarm system. They bark if a gnat farts within 100 yards of the house.

Cocked and locked. Wait. There is no lock.

Chambered Glock 22 w/ nite sights, weapon light, & 2 mags of Ranger T's in Biometric safe next to my bed. Fox 5.3 "Family Can" fogger next to the bed with my trusty old Maglite.. Hopefully buys me enough time to get to the big safe!

The CZ SP01 Tactical is always on my nightstand.

Third Gen G21sf with tac-light, loaded, not chambered. It's under the pillow next to me... arms reach away. Alarm system will alert me of any entry.

Ruger P-95 Chambered round, hammer down.

Mossy 500 5 rounds of 00, unchambered.

Ruger 10/22 with a loaded 50round mag, unchambered. used to shoot groundhogs out my window, but it's in there, so I will count it.

Neither of these weapons leave our bedroom, except to practice with.

I also picked these weapons to put there, because if the house does burn down or get robbed, I wont loose much more valuable guns and these work great.

Mag in u chambered, in level 3 serpa

G19, no round in chamber
Link Posted: 1/16/2015 8:39:19 PM EST
I don't have kids, so it sits on the night stand, mag in, round chambered, just pick it up and do what has to be done. If I have kids, I'll re-think that.

Sleeping with only one gun is ghey. Sleeping with one gun that is not ready to rock is more ghey.
Link Posted: 1/16/2015 8:44:19 PM EST
My handgun and suppressed SBR are a safety away from rocking and rolling.

My CCW is usually on top of the night stand as well.
Link Posted: 1/16/2015 8:45:32 PM EST
Revolver (13-1) with all 6 holes loaded (.38 +P and a speedloader right there. G19 with one in the tube and 15 in the magazine along with a few 17 round mags. If there's time for the safe there's 30 in one of b the AR's and a pile of loaded mags.

Ar pistol mag in, round chambered is next to the bed

1911, in a keyed nightstand safe. Sometimes it's loaded condition 0 with the safety on. Sometimes its unloaded. Just depends.

It's usually the same thing I carry. A full size S&W 1911 w/ rail. I just swap out the Wilson 47D for a Wilson 47T and put the light on.
