Well, what am I doing in his neighborhood? Have I been acting suspicious? All of that matters a great deal. I mean, suppose I am supposed to go to 316 Maple street. But, I get confused and go to 306 Maple, knock on the door and get no answer. So then I cut through the yard and go next door to 308 Maple thinking maybe I confused the 6 with an 8. After getting no answer there, I think maybe I wrote down 310 instead and do the same thing.

I’m not doing anything wrong, but I sure look suspicious. So if some guy confronts me with a gun I’m going to keep my hands where he can see them and calmly explain that I am lost and looking for a friend’s house.
