Country singer Lyle Lovett trampled by bull The Associated Press HOUSTON (March 28, 2002 12:33 a.m. EST) - While trying to help an uncle who had been flipped by a bull Wednesday, country singer Lyle Lovett was trampled by the animal and broke his leg. Lovett underwent surgery on his lower right leg to reconstruct the bone that was broken in several places, said Memorial Hermann Hospital spokeswoman Beth Sartori. She said Lovett was in good condition. Lovett, 44, was injured on his uncle's farm in suburban Houston, the Tomball Regional Hospital said in a press release. A bull flipped Lovett's uncle, Calvin Klein, 67, and Lovett was trampled while trying to help him. Klein was taken to Tomball Regional and later released. Lovett's spokesman, Vance Knowles of InKlein Productions, didn't immediately return a call for comment. Lovett's hits include "If I Were The Man You Wanted" and "San Antonio Girl." Lovett won his first Grammy in 1989 for his album, "Lyle Lovett and his Large Band."

Hey now! I supposed you don't like Willie and Waylon and the Boys, either? You Heathen! [BD]

The ones you named are OK (RIP Waylon), but I never liked Lovett or what I heard of his music. Same with Joe Ely.

How can you not like a guy who writes the classic "She ain't no lady, she's my wife." Then again, maybe that would explain the split with Julia Roberts. And speaking of Six Degress of Julia Roberts, I had a friend run into Kiefer Sutherland in an elevator at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas two years ago. He didn't say anything, but I would have been "Dumping Julia Roberts was the biggest mistake of your life, right?" [}:D] But on the Texas music front, I prefer Junior Brown over Jerry Jeff Walker. None of Jerry Jeff's stuff ever did much for me. And Willie is a modern day poet. It will be a sad day when he's gone. "Picking up hookers, instead of my pen I let the words of my youth fade away..." God bless you Willie, and my heroes have always been cowboys as well. God Bless Texas

***kin' A, on Junior Brown. Got all his CD's, & caught on to Jimmie Vaughan through one verion of "My Wife Thinks You're Dead". That Willie guy has it down pretty good, that's what 5 decades of songwriting will do for you.
