Make / Models : Model/Build Years: NISSAN / XTERRA 2000 NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 03V307000 Recall Date : AUG 15, 2003 Component: WHEELS Potential Number Of Units Affected : 31700 Summary: 2000 NISSAN XTERRA VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN OCTOBER 15, 1999, AND FEBRUARY 29, 2000. THE ALLOY WHEELS USED ON THESE VEHICLES MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY MANUFACTURED AND COULD DEVELOP CRACKS IN THE WHEEL SPOKES. Consequence: IF A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF SPOKE CRACKS DEVELOP, THE WHEEL COULD FAIL AND SEPARATE FROM THE MOUNTING HUB, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. Remedy: NISSAN WILL NOTIFY ITS CUSTOMERS(This is not always correct, you should take it upon yourself and call a nissan service rep to find out!) AND REPLACE THE FOUR ALLOY WHEELS WITH XTERRA SE MODEL BRIGHT ALLOY WHEELS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SPARE TIRE STEEL WHEEL IS NOT AFFECTED. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261. Notes: ALSO, CUSTOMERS CAN CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION’S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236). Here are the ones I got from the dealer today:  They are MUCH nicer than the stock wheels. Let me know how you like them and if you get them! |

I got mine about 2 weeks ago but I didn't get the ones you got. Mine were exactly the same as the old ones except they were polished. I topped em off with a new set of 31" BFG All Terrains though! [:)]

I understand that you have to trim some of the wheel well to fit 31" tires, is that right? What and where will I have to trim? Thanks! [beer] |

I like my 2003 SE Supercharged.. I talked to wave and now I am convinced to drop in the K&N Aircharger

Only the plastic part that the front mudflaps bolt to though. What I did was I went to the dealership and bought the front mudflaps for a 2003. These are already shaped to fit 31". They are only $20.00, very easy to install and it will be obvious what needs trimmed when you compare them to the 2000's. They also look much better IMHO. Will try post pics as soon as I get a chance. |
