I haven't had a game console since the original Xbox. I'm bored and feel like a new console would be fun. Been reading a lot of comparisons lately. Seems like here are the biggest pros and cons:
PS4 Pro: Much better hardware Plays some titles at native 4k Does NOT play UHD Blu Ray movies Xbox One S: Hardware isn't as good as PS4 Pro Will play UHD Blu Ray movies Some say the controller is better I don't have friends who play, so I don't see doing lots of multiplayer. I see lots of talk about "exclusives" but I don't really know what that means. |
|
exclusives are machine specific. uncharted is only on PS. gears of war is spybox only.
|
|
If I wasn't already invested in the 360 I would have gone PS4. They seem to have way more exclusives and I think that will include Kohimas next title.

Exclusives are games that will only hit one system or the other, like Forza vs. Gran Turismo. If there's a game gou can't live without it may be worth looking into. How many UHD movies you going to get? Is it really worth it? Personally, I've never found 4K to be must have. My opinion, PS Pro, gives you the option of the PS VR too. I'll be trading my old PS in for a pro shortly. |

I got an Xbox One about a year ago and love it. Generally you want to get what your friends have.
With Xbox One you can set it up so you share digitally bought games with one friend.....So they buy a game and you can play it. Then you buy a game and they can play it. Also Xbox is made by an American company. |
|
Big thing would be the exclusive games for each system. Things like gears of war, forza on the xbox and gears of war and little big planet on the ps4.
Past that it really doesn't matter. Personally I like xbox one because of its multiplayer. Since that isn't as big of an issue with you I'd say play with both controllers and see which one feels better to you. Big thing about the xbox one is the hdmi passthrough for cable/satellite. It allows you to be watching tv via that or netflix, hulu, amazon, etc on the console and have people be able to see you are online and see if you want to play. |

Well this clears things right up!
I don't even know where to start with games. Back when I had my PS1/PS2 I loved Dave Mirra BMX. On Xbox I played lots of Red Faction. I think I enjoy first person shooters the most. I really haven't paid any attention at all to games but it seems like Gears of War and Fallout are popular. I keep seeing news for Red Dead Redemption 2. Also I know that Grand Theft Auto is still popular. |

Just saw a commercial tonight. You get Battlefield1 with Xbox one purchase.

PS4 for VR.
I have an Xbone and it has been an unresounding flop. Other than Forza there hasnt been SHIT worth a damn on it and the stupid menus/party chat keep getting changed as Microsuck tries to redefine what they think is a good user interface just like they do with every release of Windoze. I loved the Xbox 360. The PS4 was worth it for Uncharted 4 alone but I bought it for the VR headset. I have an original Playstation and PS2 slim. Switched to Xbox 360 and then waited a year after release for Xbone to drop the kinnect bullshit before buying. Now I have the PS4(no pro) and the VR headset. Playing with the VR to see if it develops into enough of a thing that I can justify going to a PC setup like the HTC Vive in a few years when everything matures. I have an 875 sqft garage that can be set up for a 20x25(leaving a buffer to not smack walls) walking space for VR hijinks if the technology adapts and good games come out. All in PS VR costs about 1k. All in PC VR costs? Closer to 3k. |

PS4 Pro. Better features (streaming, Share Play and others), better software library (yes this is subjective), better access to early access content...and it's a video game console that happens to play media, while an Xbox One Slim is a media box that happens to play video games. Two totally different focuses so pick the one that appeals to you more.
As far as exclusives go, the PS4 has PS Virtual Reality, series like Uncharted, The Last of Us, much better import options (shoot 'em ups, RPGs and more) and most multiplats look and play better on the PS4. |
|
FPNI but forgot Origin and uPlay.
Between the two I'd choose PS4, that's what I got for my 5 year old. I have a PS3 so some of my digital games transfered over for free to the PS4. |

If you want quality games in the FPS genre Battlefield 1, Fallout 4 and Borderlands the Handsome Jack Collection are a good place to start.

For the time being I don't know if the VR is really big for me since I've never tried it. I watch a lot of movies so it would be nice to have the UHD playback on the Xbox and not have to spend another 300-500 on a UHD player. I'm sure I won't be watching UHD blu rays everyday but with a 4k TV it would be nice to have for certain movies that can take advantage of it.
i guess it's just a tough choice. All the reading of reviews and comparisons and it doesn't seem like there's one clear cut winner. |

Get what most of your friends have, or in your case, which controller feels better.
I went with Xbox for both of those reasons. Both platforms are relatively equal, as far as hardware goes, and both have exclusives that are good. |

I havent bought a console since PS1 but I might get a Xbox OneS just for the ability to play 4K UHD bluray disks. I have a damn 4K tv and a bunch of UHD disks but nothing to play them on yet damnit.

Do you have friends? What do they have? In those questions lie your answer.

Seems like here are the biggest pros and cons: PS4 Pro: Not out un til NOV 10 Much better hardware Not true Plays some titles at native 4k All games must be able to run on the original PS4. Some games and VR games will be optimized for the new system and marked as such on the package Does NOT play UHD Blu Ray movies It will on a 4K tv Xbox One S: Hardware isn't as good as PS4 Pro Not true, but does require a working internet connection to setup Will play UHD Blu Ray movies Not sure. If it does it will be via an app you download from the stroe Some say the controller is better Personal Preference. I've never used the touch pad on the PS4 I don't have friends who play, so I don't see doing lots of multiplayer. I see lots of talk about "exclusives" but I don't really know what that means. View Quote There's not a lot of exclusive titles. Xbox has Forza, PS has Grand Turismo. I think most other titles are available on all platforms. Xbox has the integration into your TV and is your entertainment hub. The PS4 has a pretty decent VR upgrade |

Skyrim Remastered limited to 1gb of mods on the PS4 if that matters to you!

Those seem to be the ones that look interesting to me. I don't think any are exclusive. |

I'm getting an Xbox One S for my boys for Christmas. We have a 360 now but it looks like it has run its course. They play it together so Xbox looked best to me.

Out of those 2 I'd pick PS4pro. If I were console neutral (I'm not. I am a PS fanboy) I'd wait for the Xbox Scorpio.

Next cycle of consoles will be out in, what, 2017? Might as well spend $500 on a PC that will play all the current gen console games at the same or better quality than XBONE or PS4. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

No it won't and that's coming from PC master race who hasn't touched his PS4 in months. A PS4 will run medium or high setting vs a $500 PC will be limited to fucking low faggotry. |

Nearly all of my 360 games are playable on my Xbone. I am a little disappointed in the number of games offered, and the decision to release Xbone S so damn fast. I think I waited a year before buying the Xbone just so they could shake out all of the bugs, and then within a month of buying it, they announced the S version. ETA: Then again, I'm not paying as much attention or playing as much as I used to. |

Friends list will make the biggest difference
I've had every MS and PS console for the last 15 years or so. I've much preferred my PS3 and PS4 over my xboxes. I also like the PS controllers better |
