Watched an F-14 land at NAS Point Mugu with a hung AIM-54.
The weather was shitty so he had to take the arresting gear. As soon as the Tomcat engaged the gear the missile popped out and went on down the runway another 1500 feet. It was a live missile with a practice warhead. |

A pilot in my father's f18 squadron a couple years ago was flying over AZ to CA. The seeker head fell of an AIM9, right into a house being built. Not good. Fucked up the house, and the corps got sued. I think I would be pissed if a 30 pound chunk of shit doing 500kts came plowing thru my roof.
