I don't care!... Really... I don't!

The only time the fucking Olympics was half interesting was when someone bombed half the morons that care and watch this bullshit!

"Johnny is goin to the Olympics!!"

Yeah well I just installed a Windows NT service pack. Whooptie do!!

I'll tell you who cares,

The US Olympic Team.

Lots of US Service Men/Women that have made the team.

The shooters from Ft Benning and the other civilian and military shooters.

Men like SFC Todd Graves, Bronze medal, Shotgun, 2000 Olympics.

I care about our atheletes, and I love to watch them kick ass, whenever they do.

What was the little girls name that made that vault a few years ago, the one with the screwed up ankle?

You gonna do that vault or get a Bronze medal in Shotgun?

I care. Jackass.

I agree we need to take pride in our atheletes.  They represent our country.  To do otherwise would be...well unpatriotic.  And I would never belive that there are many of those on this site.

I really could careless about the gymnastics crap though.  But most else is cool.

Depends, can it scrape my ass after I take a shit? Because that's the only use I can think of for a round metal disc.

I agree we need to take pride in our atheletes.

Because they worked so hard, spent so much money to train, to be the best of the best... so they can show what country is the best at doing spins on a frozen lake...

They represent our country

No, they represent a waste of resources that could have been used towards something that matters. We have poverty in our country, yet we are the best at swimming really fast!! Yey!!!

The olympics are about finding and challenging the limits of human excellence.

Ya know I think that when I see two men in tights roll around on the floor.

Human excellence?!?!? When did some asshole light a torch when Bill Gates put computers in everyone's home? When did they throw a concert when the first packet of information was sent between two computers?

You are to have me believe some faggot jumping around on floor mats is human excellence?!?!?

No but the people like Gates who developed computers and IT were rewarded with millions or billions of dollars.

The focus of Olympians is on athleticism, often in sports that don't reward commerically, like faggot-in-tights wrestling.  But just because the market isn't insterested in them, having a field to develop potential and perform on a world class level in an international arena is a great thing.  If you're so crass that you can't see the greatness of competeing not for money but for honor and glory and pure competition.....what can I say about you, Frank?

No I can't see "the greatness of competeing"

Theses prancing tights wearing sissies need to go out and get a fuckin job!

Theses no good pieces of shit train and train and put so much energy and time to do what?!?!? To win a fucking medal?!?! WOW!!! Way to be a productive member of society!!!! You can do the BEST backflip in the world!!! YOU ARE THE EYE OF THE TIGER!!!!

Bill Gates made billions and then is in the process of giving it all away and starting over to make 200 billion this time. So does wearing a red white and blue jump suit and running with a torch like the fucking flamers they are help cure cancer?!?! I think donating 5 million helps even more.

So what have theses assholes done for our economy?!?! Look at me!! I fucking ditched high school to be a roadie for the band Tesla, now I'm working at fucking Intel!! I worked at IBM before that!! And before that I worked with biologists that help preserve the environment at Dept. of Fish and Game!

I have contributed to society, and I am thankful to visionaries like Bill Gates, Steve Woz and many others that contributed to this great land America.

What did theses faggots and lesbians do for our country?!? For society?!!? Economy?!? Held their leg out and pointed their toe REALLY straight?!?! ::claps:: YEAH!!! I owe them my paycheck and my new Blazer to them!! THANK YOU Brain Boytono for being the best sissy on the ice and bringing home the gold!

Yet mother fuckers make fun of people like Bill Gates, "oh he is Hitler!". Fucking brainless assholes. Just do a search on how much Bill Gates has donated to those less fortunate. Just sit there and think where all theses great jobs have come from in Silicon Valley (and I would like to point out a .com has nothing to do with Silicon!!!!!! THAT IS HARDWARE!! .com IS SOFTWARE!), they sure as hell didn't come from our great Russian ass kicking Olympic team!

I agree with you Frank.  I was pissed and insulted during the last summer Olympics.  Every news channel and media source kept going on and on about crap that I find really dull.  Its a pissing consest in a format that most cannot relate to.  Throwing a stick, metal ball, or disc. Who cares?  So we spent recources to show we are better than the rest at these things, not something I would brag about to forigners.  There is alot of money for the host country and that is all.  In the case of China I think the US is making a big deal cause thay always f!ck with us whenever they can. The only problem with the descision is that it legitimizes China's oppressive way of life.  Aside from that, I will not be watching this crap as usual.  If there was an actual international pissing match involved then I probably would cause that is something I find more interesting than who can run faster.

"I fucking ditched high school to be a roadie for the band Tesla"

Tesla ? Wow dude, you HAVE contributed to society ! Oh shit, nope, I did pee my pants. Thanks.

Tesla aside, the reason the Olympics suck is because we have to do lame ass sports to satisfy the Europeans. Example A. Equestrian events ? What the fuck is that shit all about ? And then to satisfy us "Yanks" they include shit like beach volleyball. BEACH-FUCKING-VOLLEYBALL !?!?? Give me a God damned break, you think putting 6 ft plus dikes with more muscle than your average Marine play volleyball in the SAND is going to make that sport more watchable ? And this is an international sport ?

...

They need to get back to the basics, sprinting, SOME endurance racing (and none of that shit where they're hopping over hurdles) and fighting. Those are the only truly international sports worth watching, the Greeks new it way back when.

Sorry, Spank, I think you ditched high school because like your beloved Bill Gates, you were a geek. I hope your salary and your AR can help you cope with the beatings you endured from these "worthless" atheletes. Myself, I enjoy watching them compete. I can't argue that the matwork and the other bogus sports suck but I would sure like to see them beat the crap out of each other. Nothing like a fight to rile up the ol' jingoism [beer]. Unfortunately I'm sure the Euro's would fuck it up. Example B, the Strongman competition. What is that bullshit ? Lifting trees and pulling tractors ??...those pussies will do anything to avoid doing REAL strength lifts. A bench and a squat rack is what that show needs [pissed]

Yawn.

The olympics are held strictly for monetary reasons.  If you don't liek the olympics, avoid Mcdonalds, Canon, Xerox, IBM et al.  The only reason for the fruits in tights is to provide material for the ad-men to work around.

It is all a big bore, lets see who wins the broadcast rights this year and allows us to see what their sponsors decide.

(How much TV time did the shooting sprots get from NBC?  Yeah...none)

That's why I stopped watching them after 1988. Plus I'm sick of the overuse of one particular word every Olympiad... every time I hear it in conjunction with an Olympic event I want to [puke]

That word is "GLORY" [puke]

Edited to add disclaimer: (I in no way am dissing the athletes. I know they work their asses off for this, but the whole event has been hijacked for commercial reasons.)

Actually Bill Gates quit Harvard, not high school.

And yeah... I was such a geek.. so much so I became a roadie.. ?!?!?

And no I didn't get beat up by the jocks in high school, I was too busy playing in my shitty garage metal bands. And trust me, I think I could take on a pack of ice skaters, LMAO

I worked for Dept. Of Fish and Game for the state of California, a group of biologists that study wildlife and marine life to preserve it. I helped them with their computers which contained their valuable data, and helped them do their job more efficiently. So how have you contributed to society? And then I worked for IBM, a company that basically invented the computer, a tool that gives everyone the power of information.

It's not a lot. But it's something. So tell me how throwing a metal ball while you had the form of a faggot taking a dump has helped this country, this world? Who cares about theses pieces of shit?!?! They are WORTHLESS!!! So when they are too old to compete, what then?!?! What do they put on their resume as past experience?!?! Do they sit in a chair at Microsoft applying for a position with "bestest ice skater in the world" on their resume?!?! Do they give "America" as a list of references?!?! Theses "athletes" are a waste of space.

Frank, you have some issues, brother.....

Here are a few tidbits sure to up your vallium requirement.

1)Most Olympians do have jobs and they train outside of that occupation.
2) I don't think i will speculate on your overuse of the term 'faggot'.  You know what they say..... you really rib the ones you like the most (a'la 7th grade....you were there at least so you know what i Mean) [:E]
3) The Olympics was originally a strictly sports venue.  The commercialization and such came long after.  I don't think McDonalds was pimpin' Big Macs in 1902.
4) Gates is a 100% non-innnovator.  What rock are you under?

Oh and if Linux is so great... how come 5 whole people in the world use it? And even then it's FREE because no one would pay for that piece of shit bugware. At Dept. of Fish and Game our Red Hat mail server got hacked in 5 minutes by a known posted hole in Red Hats open source bullshit OS. The hacker tried to hack our NT 4.0 webserver... he never got in.

Oh and Apple? Yeah, Bill Gates owns 60% of Apple. How do you think the iMac was born? And how come Office is the #1 software application for Macs?

Frank, Microsoft did not invent "Windows",
View Quote

You fucking retard... yes he invented "Windows" as in Microsoft Windows. Did he invent the GUI (Graphical User Interface)?!?! No that was invented by researchers in Palo Alto that worked for Xerox, and no not Olympic athletes, it was people that were worth a shit, not a walking flag. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs GOT THE IDEA of a GUI. They made it into a user friendly OPERATING SYSTEM that everyone now uses. Windows95 was the first OS that made getting on the internet easy. After that EVERYONE bought computers, cheap PC company Packard Bell sold MILLIONS of computers to people. Thus sparking the computer revolution that made computers common place in every home and every job.

So.... good thing those Olympic fruits can spin around really fast... sure made it easy for me to get a job in Silicon Valley supporting those billions of computers in the world.

Pull your head out of your ass, you're getting prune ears.

Well, Dumbass... I'm sorry... Dungus to answer your succinct question "WTF is that shit all about?" it's called cavalry manuevers...

Granted, equestrian events have become more specialized and performed at a higher level than required by the cavalry but that was how dressage and cross-country competitions were developed.

Dressage is classical riding that increases a horses responsiveness to his rider - critical in a battlefield situation where a rider often had to guide their horse through subtle changes in weight and leg pressure.

Cross-country jumping was just that... how quickly and successfully can you negotiate every stinkin' obstacle that might be in between you and where you want to go.

Personally, I would be more inclined to watch the Olympics if they would give equestrian events some actual air time... [rolleyes]

FTS is alright, just a bit hyper, young and underinformed.

remember the thread about Waco that ran awhile back?  how does FTS feel about that now that he educated himself on it?

just give him some time to read up on the history of the Olympics and the history of computer hardware, software, OS's, and the 'net. [i dare ya to post some of that 'history' on Slashdot, Frank.]

it's really hip to make extreme quips like Dennis Leary or Dennis Miller, but you might find it more useful to read a bit more and not assume you know so much.  you are young yet, and personally i think you have issues stemming from your upbringing (re: jobs).

re: commercialism of the OG

that is right on.  i had to endure the Olympics here in Atlanta in 1996.  loads of hype, commercial garbage, and all the ACOG fat cats walked away with millions in cash.

the only sports that get televised are those that get ratings and can accommodate fast action and commercial breaks.

most of the 'popular Olympic sport' competitors are looking for that big endorsement deal after they swing the gold.  these sports are just another version of professional sports.

as with everything these days, it's all about the $$$.
