Would you trade Barak Obama for Richard Nixon as POTUS???

Considering that Nixon was considered to be strong on foreign policy and that Obama definitely is not too swift in that area, would you feel safer in a post 9/11 world with Nixon at the helm?

What do you think Nixon would be doing if he were president in a post 9/11 world?
Link Posted: 9/19/2009 9:36:11 AM EST
Yes I would trade Obama for Nixon.

I am not defending Nixon's practices, lying, keeping a enemies list, etc.

But post 9/11 we need strong leaders not someone who gives away one of our strongest new defense systems and gets nothing in return.

But the real reason is, Nixon loved America, Obama does not.

Futurama thinks he'll be president of the world.

I would trade Obama for gonorrhea.

I think ANY President who loves this country and the people who elected him into the office ... would do a better job than Obama. I don't think Obama cares about either: the country or the people. I think his title is the ultimate status symbol for himself and the other things, like terrorism, taxes, etc ... those are just pesky side effects of that title.

Given the choice ... I'd rather endure CLINTON (either of them) than Obama. But Nixon would do in a pinch.

Back in the day... Nixon, Europe, and Western Civilization; would not accept a nuclear program in Iran or North Korea.

Nixon's legacy was dictated by a liberal socialist media. Most of America didn't realize how manipulative the information distribution mechanism (papers, TV, etc) was until the internet made it possible to bypass the commies with the perfect hair on TV every night.

Nixon had the same flaws that every politician has, and likely MUST have to be effective. He should have stonewalled, shredded docs, erased tapes, whatever it took to castrate the commies after his ass. The Clintons learned valuable lessons in memory and document retention from Nixon.

Having said that, I'd take a chance with almost anyone in the white house over Obamalamadingdong.

Richard Nixon,absolutely––-that man was investigated back to the second grade, the ONLY thing they could come up with :

1. He did not like Communists.

2. He lied,he covered up for his people.

3. He said bad words sometimes

obammy is not worthy to be a wad of gum stuck on Richard Nixons shoe!!!!!

Get those bums! Aroooooogh!

But seriously, Nixon. The man was an out of the box thinker and he'd handle the current international situation in ways we probably couldn't imagine.

Really? Really? I think you do.

Nixon fucked up and made some bad decisions, but was overall a good president. Obama is showing himself to be a HORRIBLE president. I'd take five terms of Nixon over one of Obama. The Russians and the Chinese were wary and even scared of Nixon. Not even Iran has anything but contempt for Obama.
Link Posted: 9/19/2009 10:19:48 AM EST
From I understand of Nixon, he was willing to play dirty like the democrats were more than willing to do. I guess he learned his lesson after losing to Kennedy due to Chicago voter fraud. The whole watergate break-in were the Republicans trying to get the dirt on dems that were using hookers at the watergate.

I'm not advocating stooping to breaking the law but we are playing against team that has no problems telling lies, protecting members that accept bribes and dodge taxes and on our side we can't even handle one of our members pointing out that the president is a liar?

We are going to finish last everytime if we are not willing to play a little dirty. That is what drove me nuts about Bush, he would not play that game and he could not speak well enough to the public to overcome it.

Are you kidding? I would trade Chairman Maobama for a "Magic 8 Ball".

Obama has broken more laws in 6 months than all of the other presidents combined.

Nixon, got caught. Thats what he did wrong. All politicians are crooked, and do unethical things. Nixon just got caught.

A lot of people are incapable of recognizing this, but Nixon was one of the most brilliant presidents we ever had.

No, I am not defending everything he did.

Yes, he made some mistakes.

Now where exactly does it say Nixon advocated a handgun ban?

Only thing I see is some panel suggesting he do it and he didn't so what's your point again?

Oh Nixon by a country mile! FUBO!

I'd trade Obama for a dead possum and an eight track tape of the Bee Gees; both of which I'd promptly dump in the trash.

Twenty years ago, I asked Richard Nixon what he thought of gun control. His on-the-record reply: 'Guns are an abomination.' Free from fear of gun owners' retaliation at the polls, he favored making handguns illegal and requiring licenses for hunting rifles.

True. In terms of raw intelligence, Nixon is at or near the top.

What he did not have were the social skills that some President's used to their advantage (Clinton in particular)

Not sure there are any honest politicians left, but he did what he thought was best for the country. Can't say the same for the current resident of 1600.

At least Nixon resigned. I suppose we can't ask as much from Obama.

Nixon by a mile...

I have NO problem with the enemies list, or tape-recording WH business... I do have a problem with 'protecting' the Watergate morons...

His economics sucked...

But he was good with foreign policy...

The only Presidents in US history I would not 'trade' Obama with, would be Carter & Jackson.

That's like my buddy at the gun store when he told me that he heard form a really good friend who had it on good authority that they are going to allow us to start registering machine guns again!

Once again point me to HIS exact words that he was in favor of banning guns specifically handguns? And don't give me other peoples quotes. I want his quotes.

Was Nixon was in favor of gun control? Yes, due to true domestic terrorists such as Weather Underground and Symbionese Liberation Army that were causing problems at the time. However NO place except for that one second hand quote was it ever recorded as him being in favor of banning guns.

Search Google some more maybe you'll dig up something obscure to support your earlier claim.

If Obanaago continues on his present course the choices will change a bit:

Obama or Henry III?

Obama or Ghengis Khan?

Obama or Nero?

Obama or Stalin?

Obama or Pol Pot?

ETA - Nixon FTW

Jackson may have had some issues, but he certainly wasn't on that short of a list for 'worst president ever'.
He also did a lot of interesting things and has many good stories to read about.
